Whitehaven, Multiple Roads, Temporary Traffic Restrictions Due To Utility Works
What is happening?
CUMBERLAND COUNCIL (VARIOUS ROADS, WHITEHAVEN AND ST BEES) (TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION) ORDER 2024
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable utility works to be carried out ("the Works"), Cumberland Council has made an Order the effect of which is to:
1. Prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along the lengths of road specified in the attached Schedule.
Suitable diversion routes will be indicated on site by the display of relevant traffic signs as and when the temporary closures are in force. A way for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times.
2. Prohibit any vehicle from proceeding other than in a south easterly direction along that section of Rosemary Lane, Whitehaven from its junction with Harbour View to its junction with Albion Street.
3. Prohibit any vehicle from proceeding other than in an easterly direction along that section of Albion Street, Whitehaven from its junction with Rosemary Lane to its junction with Swingpump Lane.
A suitable alternative route for North West Bound Vehicles during the restrictions detailed in 2 and 3 above will be available via Swingpump Lane, Strand Street, Duke Street, Scotch Street, Irish Street, New Town, Preston Street, Ginns to Kells Road, Ennerdale Terrace, Hilltop Road, High Road and Harbour View.

Phased works will not necessarily be done in numerical order. Fibrus will ensure that local residents and the general public are informed of which roads are to be closed and when, nearer the time.

The Order will come into operation on 10 February 2024 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restrictions will only be required for as stated above and in the schedule and only as and when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. SCHEDULE
EXTENT OF RESTRICTIONS AND ALTERNATIVE ROUTES
1. Cross Hill and B5345 Egremont Road, St Bees - From 10 February 2024 for approx. 1 week (Ref: TTROC/9628)
(i) Cross Hill, from its junction with Finkle Street to its junction with the B5345 Egremont Road; and
(ii) B5345 Egremont Road, from its junction with Cross Hill to its junction with Fairladies.
Alternative Route: via the unrestricted section of the B5345 Egremont Road, C4008, C4010 and High House Road.
2. B5345, St Bees - From 10 February 2024 for approx. 1 week (Ref: TTROC/9629) From its junction with Abbey Road to its junction with Finkle Street.
Alternative Route: via Finkle Street, High House Road, Linethwaite Road, A595, Mirehouse Road and the unrestricted sections of the B5345.
3. Castle Close, Whitehaven - From 19 February 2024 for approx. 1 week (Ref: TTROC/9696)
The entire length of Castle Close extending from its junction with Park Drive.
There is no suitable alternative route available for vehicles.
4. Monkwray Cottages, Whitehaven - From 19 February 2024 for approx. 3 days (Ref: TTROC/9693)
From its junction with Hilltop Road to its junction with Monkwray Brow.
Alternative Routes:
Northbound Vehicles: via Monkwray Brow and Hilltop Road.
Southbound Vehicles: via Hilltop Road, High Road, Ennerdale Terrace and Monkwray Brow.
5. James Drive, Whitehaven - From 26 February 2024 for approx. 1 week (Ref: TTROC/9689)
The entire length of James Drive, extending from its junction with Park Drive. There is no suitable alternative route available for vehicles.
6. U4353 Corkickle, Whitehaven - From 4 March 2024 for approx. 1 week (Ref: TTROC/9698)
From its junction with Coach Road, extending for its entire length up to its northern and southern junctions with the A5094 Back Corkickle.
Alternative Route: via Coach Road and the A5094 Back Corkickle.
