(Millgate Wigan) (Various Traffic Orders) Order 2024
Notice of Making
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Wigan Borough
Council, in exercise of the powers under Section 1, 2,
3 and 4 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and the Traffic Management Act 2004 and of all other enabling powers and after consultation with the Chief Officer of Police in accordance with Part III of Schedule 9 of the Act 1984, has made the Wigan Borough (Decriminalisation of Parking) (Wigan Roads) (Traffic Regulation Consolidation) Order 2004 (Amendment No.178) Order 2024 which will come into operation on 18/02/2024. The effect of the Order will be to revoke prohibited waiting at all times on the following road:
• Millgate Wigan – both sides from its junction with Market Place to a point 64 metres east of its junction with Market Place.
The effect of the Order will be to introduce no waiting at all times on the following road:
• Millgate Wigan – both sides from its junction with Market Place to its junction with Hewlett Street. The effect of the Order will be to revoke restricted loading on the following roads on any day from 10:30am to 4.00pm.
• Millgate Wigan – both sides from its junction with Market Place to a point 64 metres east of its junction with Market Place.
The effect of the Order will be to introduce restricted loading on the following roads on any day from 10:30am to 4.00pm.
• Millgate Wigan – both sides from its junction with Market Place to its junction with Hewlett Street. The effect of the Order will be to revoke on-street parking spaces on any Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday or Saturday 8:00am to 6:00pm.
• Millgate Wigan – north side from a point 114 metres east of its junction with Market Place to a point 148 metres east of its junction with Market Place. The Order also provides that if any vehicle is left in any road or length of road affected by the Order in contravention of any provision of the Order a penalty charge (in the amount set by the Council) shall be payable and/or the vehicle may be removed.

Council, in exercise of the powers under Section 1, 2, 3, 4 and 92 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and the Traffic Management Act 2004 and of all other enabling powers and after consultation with the Chief Officer of Police in accordance with Part III of Schedule 9 of the Act 1984, has made the Wigan
Borough (Millgate Wigan) (Prohibition of Driving Order) 2024 which will come into operation on 18/02/2024. The effect of the Order will be to revoke prohibited driving of motor vehicles on the following length of roads at all times:
• Millgate Wigan – from its junction with Market Place to a point 80 metres north west of its junction with Hewlett Street.
The effect of the Order will be to introduce prohibited driving of motor vehicles on the following length of roads at all times:
• Millgate Wigan – from its junction with Market Place to its junction with Hewlett Street.
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Wigan Borough
Council, in exercise of the powers under Section 1, 2, 3 and 4 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and the Traffic Management Act 2004 and of all other enabling powers and after consultation with the Chief Officer of Police in accordance with Part III of Schedule 9 of the Act 1984, has made the Wigan Borough (Millgate Wigan) (One Way Working) Order 2024 which will come into operation on 18/02/2024.
The effect of the Order will be to revoke One Way Working on the following length of road:
• Millgate Wigan – from its junction with Market Place to a point 80 metres north west of its junction with Hewlett Street.
The effect of the Order will be to introduce One Way Working on the following length of road:
• Millgate Wigan – from its junction with Market Place to its junction with Hewlett Street in a southerly direction. A copy of the Orders and of the relevant map may be requested by emailing d.rumsey@wigan.gov.uk.
Any person who desires to question the validity of the Order or any provision contained therein on the ground:
(a) that it is not within the powers of Section 1 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
(b) that any requirement of the said Section 1, or of Part III of Schedule 9 to the said Act, or of any regulations made under the said Part III of Schedule 9 has not been complied with, may within six weeks of 25/01/2024 make application for the purpose to the High Court.
(Rectory Lane Standish)
(Temporary Closure) Order 2024 Notice of Making
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Assistant Director Infrastructure and Regulatory Services of Wigan Borough Council in exercise of the powers conferred by Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and delegated to her by the said Council has made the Wigan Borough (Rectory Lane Standish) (Temporary Closure) Order 2024.
The effect of the Order will be to prohibit any person from driving a vehicle or causing or permitting a vehicle to be driven in Rectory Lane Standish during the period of 02/04/2024 to 12/04/2024.
The alternative route for traffic is: A5106 Chorley Road, A49 Wigan Road and High Street.
The Order is necessary to allow a new electric service.
(Green Lane Hindley Green Wigan)
(Temporary Closure) Order 2024 Notice of Proposals
Please note that this Notice replaces the Notice advertised on 23rd January 2024 and as a result the works will take place on the below, earlier date.
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Assistant Director Infrastructure and Regulatory Services of the Wigan Borough Council in exercise of the powers conferred by Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and delegated to her by the said Council proposes to make the Wigan Borough (Green Lane Hindley Green Wigan) (Temporary Closure) Order 2024. The effect of the Order will be to prohibit any person from driving a vehicle or causing or permitting a vehicle to be driven in Green Lane Hindley Green Wigan from 11/03/2024 – 31/03/2024. The alternative route for traffic is: Swan Lane and Alder Lane.
The Order is necessary to allow gas governor renewal & decommission of old governor.
Bryn St Peters, Downall Green Road,
Bryn – Zebra Crossing
Notice of Intent
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Wigan Borough Council, in exercise of its powers under Section 23(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and all other enabling powers, has resolved to introduce a zebra crossing on the following street:
• Downall Green Road Bryn from a point 12 metres east of its junction with Cooke Street for a distance of 2.4 metres.
A copy of the map showing the respective position of the proposed Zebra pedestrian crossing will be available to view at https://www.wigan.gov.uk/Resident/ Parking-Roads-Travel/Roads/Traffic-regs-orders.aspx or will be available by emailing d.rumsey@wigan.gov.uk.

Bryn St Peters, Downall Green Road, Bryn – Revocation of Stopping at School Entrances Notice of Proposals
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Wigan Borough
Council, in exercise of the powers under Section 1, 2, 3 and 4 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and the Traffic Management Act 2004 and of all other enabling powers and after consultation with the Chief Officer of Police in accordance with Part III of Schedule 9 of the Act 1984, proposes to make the Wigan Borough (Decriminalisation of Parking) (Various Roads in Wigan Borough) (Traffic Regulation Consolidation) Order 2004 (Amendment No.577) Order 2024.
The effect of the order will be to revoke a prohibition of stopping at school entrances at:
• Downall Green Road Bryn – north side from a point 64 metres east of Haseldine Street for a distance of 43.56 metres in an easterly direction.
There will be limited exceptions permitting vehicles to wait; for the removal of any obstruction to traffic; if the vehicles are fire service or police vehicles or ambulances; road works and works by statutory undertakers; or for repairs of any sewer, main, pipe or apparatus for the supply of gas, water electricity or any telecommunication apparatus as defined in the Telecommunications Act 1984.
The Order also provides that if any vehicle is left in any road or length of road affected by the Order in contravention of any provision of the Order a penalty charge (in the amount set by the Council) shall be payable and/or the vehicle may be removed.
A copy of the proposed Order, the Order to be amended, and of the relevant map and of a statement of the reasons for proposing to make the Order may be requested by emailing d.rumsey@wigan.gov.uk.
