What is happening?

THE LONDON BOROUGH OF TOWER HAMLETS

TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT ORDERS - THE TOWER HAMLETS (PARKING PLACES) (MAP BASED) (AMENDMENT N0.44) ORDER 2019, THE TOWER HAMLETS (WAITING LOADING AND STOPPING RESTRICTIONS) (MAP BASED) (AMENDMENT N0.44) ORDER 2019

1. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Council of the London Borough of Tower Hamlets on the 1st of February 2024 made the above-mentioned Orders under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and the Traffic Management Act 2004 (as amended)

2. The effect of these orders is as follows:

PTO 2179 - Minor Waiting and Parking Places amendments:

*The Shared use parking bays herein are referred to as Permit holder/Cashless payment parking bays.

a) By removing double yellow line:

(i) Extend the existing permit holder parking bays on

(a) Dockers Tanner Road (southside) by 4m eastwards, and

(b) Tobago Street (east side) by 6m southwards;

(ii) Introduce shared use parking bays on:

(a) Baffin way: a 11m bay on the southside between Gaselee Street and a 15m bay on Blackwall Way (north of Baffin way),

(b) Cuba Street (west of West Ferry Road): a 11 m bay outside no.42 Anchorage Point and a 50m bay between no. 22-41,

(c) Poplar Bath Street: two bays each of 15m on the west side - north of Lawless Street, and the east kerbside - opposite the fire station;

(iii) introduce permit holder parking bays on (a) Lawless Street north side (outside Poplar baths leisure centre): at the junction of Poplar Bath Street - perpendicular to the kerb (2 bays), a 6m bay, and a 15m bay.

b) By removing single yellow line:

(i) introduce a permit holder parking bay on:

(a) Severnake Close on the southside, between no. 14 to 16,

(b) Inglewood Close opposite no.4 and on the western corner junction with Ashdown walk (perpendicular to the kerb),

(c) Barnsdale Avenue (north of Inglewood Close) on both sides of east and west kerbs, two separate permit holder parking bays of 5m each,

(d) Rosefield Gardens (opposite Thornfield House) east kerbside - 2 bays of 25m and 20m each,

(e) Copeland Drive: at the corner junction of Ashdown walk (perpendicular to the kerb) for 2 spaces, and a 5m bay on the southside between Sherwood Gardens and Barnsdale Avenue,

(f) Sherwood Gardens (west kerb outside no. 2-72) a 20m bay, and

(g) Chamwood Gardens: north west side between no.11 and no.13 - two bays each of 16m and a single bay on the north side opposite no.56-58;

(ii) Introduce shared use parking bays on:

(a) Chapel House Street (north kerb outside no.53) a bay of 15m,

(b) Barnsdale Avenue (east kerb, opposite the Docklands medical centre) a bay of 11m, and

(c) Spindrift Avenue outside Nauticus Walk a bay of 11 m;

(iii) Extend the existing resident parking bays on:

(a) Shirbutt Street (opposite Corry House) in a westerly direction by 10m, and

(b) Chapel House Street (west kerb outside no.31) northwards by 5m;

(iv) Extend the existing permit holder parking bays on:

(a) Spindrift Avenue (Opposite Undine Road) eastwards by 5m;

(v) Extend the existing shared use bay on Spindrift Avenue (north side, east of Barnsdale Street) by 8m in a westerly direction.

c) By removing double yellow line and no loading at any time. Introduce a shared use parking bay on:

(i) Orchard Place (opposite the Good luck hope car park entrance) on the south east kerb, a 11 m bay.

(ii) Silvocea way (east kerbside between Avalon Point and Handlebury House) a 15m bay.

(iii) Blackwall way (west kerbside, north of Baffin way) a bay of 15m.

d) Stainsby Road (outside no.44 Pavilion Apartments) -Introduce a disabled permit holder bay no. T.H.DIS 682 by replacing 6m of the permit holder parking bay.

3. The Regulations, fees and usual exemptions imposed by the governing Traffic Management Orders would apply to the proposals referred to in paragraph 2, as above.

4. A copy of the Orders, which will come into operation on 01 st February 2024 and all relevant documents can be obtained by writing to; Parking & Mobility Services, 585-593 Commercial Road, London E1 0HJ or by emailing parking.Tmo@Towerhamlets.gov.uk until the end of six weeks from the date on which the Orders were made.

5. Any person wishing to question the validity of the Orders or of any provision contained therein on the grounds that it is not within the relevant powers of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, or that any relevant requirements thereof or any regulations made thereunder has not been complied with in relation to the Orders may, within six weeks of the date on which the Orders were made, make application for the purpose to the High Court.
