What is happening?

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984

THE VARIOUS GLA ROADS (LONDON BOROUGH OF SUTTON) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC AND STOPPING) ORDER 2024

1. Transport for London hereby gives notice that it has made the above named Traffic Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 for the purpose specified in paragraph 2. The effect of the Order is summarised in paragraph 3.

2. The purpose of the Order is to enable highway lining and signage works to take place on the roads listed in Article 3 below in the London Borough of Sutton.

3. The effect of the Order will be to prohibit any vehicle from:

(1) entering, exiting or stopping on the A232 Ewell Road, High Street - Cheam, Cheam Road, Sutton Park Walk, Grove Road, Sutton Court Road, Chalk Pit Way, Carshalton Road, Pound Street, High Street - Carshalton and Acre Lane between its junctions with Manor Road and The Broadway;

(2) entering, exiting or stopping on the A217 Rose Hill Roundabout and Reigate Avenue between its Junctions with Rose Hill Roundabout and Glastonbury Road;

(3) entering, exiting or stopping on the A297 St Helier Avenue between its junctions with Rose Hill Roundabout and the Borough boundary between Merton and Sutton;

(4) entering, exiting or stopping on the A217 St Dunstan's Hill/ Belmont Road between its junctions with Mulgrave Road and Lumley Road;

The Order will also permit:

(5) all vehicles to use the bus lanes on the A232 Ewell Road, High Street - Cheam, Cheam Road, Sutton Park Walk, Grove Road, Sutton Court Road, Chalk Pit Way, Carshalton Road, Pound Street, High Street - Carshalton and Acre Lane between its junctions with Manor Road and The Broadway;

(6) all vehicles to use the bus lanes on the A217 Rose Hill Roundabout and Reigate Avenue between its junctions with Rose Hill Roundabout and Glastonbury Road;

(7) all vehicles to use the bus lanes on the A297 St Helier Avenue between its junctions with Rose Hill Roundabout and the Borough boundary between Merton and Sutton;

(8) all vehicles to use the bus lanes on the A217 St Dunstan's Hill/ Belmont Road between its junctions with Mulgrave Road and Lumley Road.

Works will be phased such that some restrictions will apply only at certain times.

The Order will be effective at certain times from 12:01 AM on 5th February 2024 until 5:00 AM on 5th August 2024 or when the works have been completed whichever is the sooner. The prohibitions will apply only during such times and to such extent as shall from time to time be indicated by traffic signs.

4. The prohibitions will not apply in respect of:

(1) any vehicle being used for the purposes of those works or for fire brigade, ambulance or police purposes;

(2) anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform or a person authorised by Transport for London.

5. At such times as the prohibitions are in force alternative routes will be indicated by traffic signs.
