West Sussex County Council

(Hasocks: Public Footpath 5K) (Temporary Closure) Order 2024

NOTICE is hereby given that West Sussex County Council has made an Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to temporarily close Public Footpath 5K in Hassocks, from its junction with London Road, eastwards to its junction with Public Footpath 11K.

The closure of this route is needed to maintain public safety while a property development is constructed on adjacent land. The Order extends the operation of a previously issued emergency closure notice and will come into effect on 5 February 2024 and remain in force for 6 months, after which it is likely an extension will be required.

Unfortunately, no alternative route is available via the public rights of way network during these works.

Any queries about the effect of the Order on traffic using the highway should be directed to the West Sussex County Council Public Rights of Way Team, telephone number 01243 777620. Ref: TTRO-2177- MM.

A copy of the Order, which will come into operation on 5 February 2024, together with plans showing the affected lengths of road may be viewed on the West Sussex County Council website. People without access to a computer who wish to view details of the scheme should telephone the West Sussex County Council Contact Centre on 01243 642105 to receive the documents by post.

Any person who wishes to question the validity of this Order, or of any provision contained therein, on the grounds that it is not within the powers conferred by the Act, or on the grounds that any requirement of the Act, or any instrument made under it, has not been complied with in relation to the Order, may within 6 weeks from 1 February 2024, apply to the High Court for this purpose.
