Notice of Confirmation of Public Path Diversion and Definitive Map and Statement Modification Order

Town and Country Planning Act 1990, Section 257 Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981, Section 53A(2)

Dorset Council (Footpaths 34 (Part) and 35, Portland) Public Path Diversion Order 2022

On 5 January 2024 Dorset Council confirmed the above order.

The effect of the order will be to divert Footpath 34 (part) and Footpath 35, Portland as shown on the order map as follows:

From the current routes:

Part of Footpath 34, Portland:

The full width of the footpath from the unaffected part of Footpath 34 north of Weston Street at SY 69157115, north north east to the unaffected part of Footpath 34 at the site of the disused windmill to the north west of Perryfield Quarries at SY 69177130. (No recorded width).

Footpath 35, Portland:

The full width of the footpath from its junction with Southwell Road north east of the picnic area at SY 69337057, generally north west for approximately 107 metres, then generally north north east across Coombefield Quarries to its junction with Weston Street west of Pennsylvania Close at SY 69307093. (No recorded width). The full width of the footpath from its junction with Weston Street 140 metres west of Pennsylvania Close at SY 69287094, generally north north east and then generally north across Perryfield Quarries to its junction with Footpath 24 east of the disused windmill at SY 69337128. (No recorded width).

To the new routes:

Part of Footpath 34, Portland:

From the unaffected part of Footpath 34 north of Weston Street at SY 69157115, generally west north west along a double fenced grass surface path to SY 69017117 then generally north along a double fenced grass surface path to SY 69017130 and generally east then east south east along a part unsurfaced and part grass track to the unaffected part of Footpath 34 at SY 69177130. Width: 2 metres.

Footpath 35, Portland:

From its junction with Footpath 74 to the east of Suckthumb Quarry at SY 68827076, east south east and generally north east along an unsurfaced track for 280 metres to SY 69097079, then east north east, crossing into a field and then east south east, into another field at SY 69167080. Continuing east south east and then generally north east, following the south eastern field boundary, crossing into a field to the north at SY 69227081, then turning east, along the northern side of the south western field boundary to SY 69247081. Continuing north to its junction with the grass verge of Weston Street at SY 69267090. Width: 3 metres between SY 68827076 and SY 69227081, 2 metres between SY 69227081 and SY 69267090.

New Footpath 106, Portland:

From its junction with Weston Street west of Pennsylvania Close at SY 69367096, generally north north west and north east, to the west of Pennsylvania Close to SY 69377101 then continuing along a path surfaced with crushed stone, generally north east to the east of Perryfield Quarries and west of the Pennsylvania Heights development to SY 69437115. Continuing generally east north east to SY 69467116 and north east to its junction with Footpath 25 at SY 69477118. Width: 2 metres.

A copy of the order as confirmed and the order map have been placed and may be seen free of charge at Reception, County Hall, Colliton Park, Dorchester during normal office hours. Copies are also available on our website at www.dorsetcouncil.gov.uk/row-orders. The order comes into force on 5 January 2024 but if any person aggrieved by the order desires to question its validity or that of any provision contained in it on the ground that it is not within the powers of the above Act, or on the ground that any requirement of that Act or any regulation made under it has not been complied with in relation to the confirmation of the order. He or she may apply to the High Court for any of these purposes under section 287 of the Town and Country Planning Act 1990 within 6 weeks from the date on which notice is first published as required by paragraph 7 of Schedule 14 to the Act.

Temporary Closure of Elwell Street, Upwey, Weymouth

DORSET COUNCIL has made an Order under Section 14 [1] of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984, as amended. All vehicles will be prohibited from proceeding along ELWELL STREET, UPWEY, WEYMOUTH between its junction with Church Street and the access to the public footpath, a distance of approximately 370 metres. The Order is needed in order to comply with health and safety regulations, which require the provision of safe working areas and to minimise the likelihood of danger to highway users. It will come into operation on 5 February 2024 and will remain in force for 18 months, however it is anticipated that the works will be completed by 16 February 2024.

This Order will enable Wessex Water, safe access to carry out sewer renovation works to prevent infiltration.

An alternative route will be signed using: B3159 - Stottingway Street - Dorchester Road.

Notice of Modification Order Section 53 of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981

Dorset Council County of Dorset Definitive Map and Statement of Rights of Way Dorset Council (A Footpath at Eweleaze Spinneys, Chickerell (to and from Grafton Avenue, Weymouth) Definitive Map and Statement Modification Order 2024

The above Order, made on 19 January 2024, if confirmed as made, will modify the definitive map and statement for the area by adding to them a Footpath in the Chickerell Ward:

From its commencement at the Weymouth Parish boundary, at the western end of Grafton Avenue, between property numbers 41 and 42, at SY 6602, 8096 at the junction with definitive footpath S16/48, north-west to SY 6595, 8099; west-south-west along the northern edge of the arable grassed field adjacent to Eweleaze Spinneys to the junction with definitive footpath S16/49 at SY 6585, 8095; south-west towards the woodland to SY 6582, 8089; south-south-east parallel with the woodland to SY 6594, 8065; east-north-east to the junction with definitive footpath S16/48 at SY 6602, 8067; east-north-east along the southern boundary of the arable grassed field to SY 6609, 8069; north-north-west past the rear of the housing to SY 6602, 8096. Width: 1.5 metres at SY 6602, 8096 continuing at 1.5m to SY 6595, 8099; widening to 3 metres at SY 6595, 8099 continuing at 3m to SY 6585, 8095; narrowing to 1.5m at SY 6585, 8095, and remaining at 1.5 metres between SY 6582, 8089, SY 6594, 8065, SY 6602, 8067, SY 6609, 8069 and SY 6602, 8096.

Temporary Closure of The Close, Blandford Forum

DORSET COUNCIL has made an Order under Section 14 [1] of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984, as amended. All vehicles will be prohibited from proceeding along The Close, Blandford Forum in its entirety. The order is needed in order to comply with health and safety regulations, which require the provision of safe working areas and to minimise the likelihood of danger to highway users. It will come into operation on 8 February 2024 and will remain in force for 18 months, however it is anticipated that the works will be completed by 16 February 2024. Access for residents and businesses will be maintained.

This Order will enable Gigaclear, safe access to carry out fibre installation works in the highway.

A locally signed diversion route will be put in place to enable traffic to travel around the closed section.
