M20 MOTORWAY – JUNCTIONS 3 TO 5
TEMPORARY TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS
Notice is hereby given that National Highways Limited has made an Order on the M20 Motorway in the County of Kent under Section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 because works are proposed to be executed on the road.
The effect of the Order is to: -
1. authorise the overnight closure of the road leading to the London-bound carriageway of the M20 at Junction 4 (A228).
2. impose a 24-hour 50mph speed restriction on both carriageways of the M20 between the centreline of Trottiscliffe Road overbridge and the centreline of the eastern overbridge at M20 Junction 5, and all slip roads leading to and from these lengths of carriageway.
3. impose a 24-hour 60mph speed restriction on the lengths of carriageway and slip roads described in 2. above.
These measures are in the interests of road safety while contractors undertake installation of new emergency refuge areas and all associated works.
It is expected that the work will last for approximately 18 months starting on or after Tuesday 13th February 2024. The overnight closures will take place between 21:00 and 06:00 (maximum period).
The Order will come into force on 11th February 2024 and have a maximum duration of eighteen months, ceasing when the works are complete. Please visit National Highways website for closure details.
Traffic affected by the closure will be diverted using the M20 to Junction 5 and return.
The temporary speed limits, closures and diversion routes will be clearly indicated by traffic signs when they are in operation during the works period.
