Canterbury, Multiple Temporary Traffic Regulation Notices

What is happening?

Highways 

Kent County Council, acting in exercise of its powers under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, makes or intends to make the following Orders.

CANTERBURY AREA

A28 THANINGTON ROAD, CANTERBURY. (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER FEBRUARY 2024

To allow signal loop replacement works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting west bound through traffic only on part of A28 Thanington Road, Canterbury, from 19.30 hours on 21st February 2024, with estimated completion by 05.00 hours on 22nd February 2024, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed west bound only from the A2 onslip, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative routes for any through traffic are:-

For traffic travelling west bound – join A2 Dover Road, Boughton Bypass, A2/M2 J7 Roundabout, A2 London Road, Canterbury Road, A251 Ashford Road, Faversham Road, A252 Canterbury Road, The Street, Maidstone Road, A28 Canterbury Road and A28 Ashford Road.

For traffic wishing to join the A2 Dover Road (north bound) – A28 Thanington Road, Ashford Road, Milton Manor Roundabout, Ashford Road and Thanington Road.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

A2990 THANET WAY & THANET WAY SLIPWAY, WHITSTABLE. (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER FEBRUARY 2024

To allow planned Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) and Service Cover inspection survey works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of the A2990 Thanet Way & Thanet Way slipway, Whitstable, on or after 25th February 2024, for up to 2 days, between the hours of 21.00 and 04.00, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed in two phases between the junctions with the A299 Thanet Way and Speedwell Road roundabout, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

Phase 1 - A2990 Thanet Way will be closed west bound only between Speedwell Road roundabout and Church Lane on both nights.

The alternative route for west bound traffic is via the A2990 Thanet Way, B2205 Borstal Hill, Joy Lane, Faversham Road and Church Lane.

Phase 2 - The A2990 Thanet Way slip way will be closed east bound only between the A299 Thanet Way and Church Lane on the second night only.

The alternative route for west bound traffic is as phase 1.

The alternative route for east bound traffic is via the A299 Thanet Way, A299 Eddington offslip and A2990 Thanet Way to Borstal Hill roundabout.

These works are also in conjunction with mobile survey works on Church Lane, Whitstable.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

BEST LANE, CANTERBURY, CT1 2AU (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER FEBRUARY 2024

To allow underground structure works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Best Lane, Canterbury, on or after 19th February 2024, for up to one day, between the hours of 09.30 and 15.30, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed from the junction with St Peter’s Street, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route is via Best Lane, The Friars, St Peters Street, High Street and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

DUCKPIT ROAD, PETHAM. (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER FEBRUARY 2024

To allow pole works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Duckpit Road, Petham, on or after 19th February 2024, for up to one day, between the hours of 09.30 and 15.30, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed in the vicinity of “Samain”, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route is via Duckpit Road, Broadway, Waltham Road, Kake Street, Anvil Green Road, Church Lane and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

HOMERSHAM, CANTERBURY, CT1 3TT (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER FEBRUARY 2024

To allow replacement works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Homersham, Canterbury, from 19.30 hours on 19th February 2024, with estimated completion by 05.00 hours on 20th February 2024, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed from the left turn lane out of Homersham, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route is via Homersham, A28 Wincheap, Wincheap Green and Wincheap.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

JOY LANE, WHITSTABLE, CT5 4QX (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER FEBRUARY 2024

To allow connection works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Joy Lane, Whitstable, on or after 10th February 2024, for up to 9 days, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed in the vicinity of number 29, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route is via Joy Lane, Valkyrie Avenue, Grimthorpe Avenue, Borstal Hill and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

NUNNERY FIELDS, CANTERBURY, CT1 3LZ (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER FEBRUARY 2024

To allow installation works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Nunnery Fields, Canterbury, on or after 10th February 2024, for up to 8 days, between the hours of 07.00 and 18.00, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed from number 15 to the junction of George Roach Road, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route is via South Canterbury Road, Ethelbert Road, Old Dover Road, Nunnery Fields and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

PETT HILL, BRIDGE, CT4 5AN (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER FEBRUARY 2024

To allow repair works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Pett Hill, Bridge, on or after 7th February 2024, for up to 7 days, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed in the vicinity of Oast Cottage, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route is via Station Road, High Street, Western Avenue, Mill Lane, Pett Hill and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

STATION ROAD, CHARTHAM, CT4 7HU (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER FEBRUARY 2024

To allow maintenance works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Station Road, Chartham, on or after 25th February 2024, for up to one day, between the hours of 02.00 and 19.00, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed in the vicinity of the level crossing, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route is via Station Road, The Green, Parish Road, Bolts Hill, Shalmsford Street, A28 Ashford Road, Station Road and vice versa.

WATER LANE, STURRY, CT2 0AL (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER FEBRUARY 2024

To allow new connection works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Water Lane, Sturry, on or after 5th February 2024, for up to 3 days, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed in the vicinity of Meadow Cottages, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route is via A28 Mill Road, Fordwich Road and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

WESTERN AVENUE, HERNE BAY, CT6 8TH (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER FEBRUARY 2024
To allow repair works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Western Avenue, Herne Bay, on or after 19th February 2024, with estimated completion by 22nd March 2024, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed in the vicinity of number 82, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route is via Western Avenue, B2205 Sea Street, Avenue Road, Station Road and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
