Longtown, Temporary Speed Restriction Due To Construction Works
What is happening?
CUMBERLAND COUNCIL (A6071 LONGTOWN) (TEMPORARY 30 MPH SPEED RESTRICTION) ORDER 2024
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable McLaughlin & Harvey to carry out construction works on an adjacent property ("the Works), Cumberland Council has made an Order the effect of which is to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding at speeds in excess of 30 miles per hour along that section of the A6071 Longtown, from a point approx 370m south west of its junction with the A7, extending in a south westerly direction for approx. 2km.
No speed limit imposed by this Order will apply to vehicles falling within regulation 3(4) of the Road Traffic Exemptions (Special Forces) (Variation and Amendment) Regulations 2011 when used in accordance with regulation 3(5) of those Regulations.

The Order will come into operation on 29 January 2024 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restrictions will only be required for 9 months and only as and when the relevant traffic signs are displayed.
