What is happening?

TEMPORARY TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS

Notice Is hereby given that City of York Council (the Council), in exercise of powers under Sections 14(1) & 15(8) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (the Act), made an order on the 18th day of January 2024 in respect of the location numbered (1) and also made an order on the 25th day of January 2024 in respect of the locations numbered (2) & (3). Furthermore, the Council, not less than 7 days from the publication of this Notice, intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Act in respect of the locations numbered (4), (5), (6), (7), (8), (9), (10), (11), (12) & (13).

(1) TADCASTER ROAD & KNAVESMIRE ROAD (CONTINUATION). YORK

This Order continues in force The York (Tadcaster Road & Knavesmire Road) (Temporary Traffic Restriction) Order 2023 (original Order). The effect of which is to continue in force the prohibition on vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of roads on Tadcaster Road & Knavesmire Road, York (i) on Tadcaster Road between its junctions with Scarcroft Road and a location 51 metres south-west of the projected centreline of St George's Place and (ii) on Knavesmire Road between the junction with Tadcaster Road and a location 89 metres south-east of said junction and (iii) on Tadcaster Road between its junctions with Knavesmire Road and St. Helens Road and (iv) on Tadcaster Road between the junction with St. Helen's Road and the roundabout controlled junction with Moor Lane and (v) on Tadcaster Road between the roundabout controlled junction with Moor Lane and the junction with Sim Balk Lane (closed roads) during the period commencing at 0601 hours on Wednesday, 24 January 2024 and ending at 0600hrs on Saturday, 27 January 2024 (works period) or on a date when highway resurfacing works being undertaken thereon have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. It is envisaged that the roads will only be closed between 2130hrs and 0600hrs each night of the works period. Traffic management operatives will assist residents to access their properties wherever possible. The works will be completed in phases to reduce the impact on local residents. Alternative routes for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via A1237, A19, York Inner Ring Road, A59.

(2) BACK LANE BETWEEN 16A AND 26 HESLINGTON ROAD. YORK

This Order prohibits vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Back Lane Between 16a and 26 Heslington Road, York between the junction with Gordon Street and a location 19 metres north-west of said junction (closed road) during the period when electricity grid works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0800hrs on Monday, 29 January 2024 and ending at 1800hrs on Friday, 02 February 2024 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Gordon Street, Wellington Street, Willis Street.

(3) MILLFIELD LANE LEVEL CROSSING. POPPLETON

This Order prohibits vehicles & pedestrians from proceeding through that length of road at Millfield Lane Level Crossing, Poppleton (closed road) during the period when railway maintenance works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 2300hrs on Monday, 29 January 2024 and ending at 0625hrs on Friday, 02 February 2024 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. It is envisaged that the road will only be closed between 2300hrs and 0625hrs each night. An alternative route for diverted pedestrians and vehicles will be signed during the works period. Vehicles will be allowed to use the bus gate between Millfield Lane and Low Poppleton Lane, for ingress and egress, without risk of enforcement action, for the works duration only.

(4) FIFTH AVENUE. YORK

This Order will prohibit vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Fifth Avenue, York between the junction with Melrosegate and a location 50 metres west of said junction (closed road) during the period when telecoms works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0930hrs on Sunday, 04 February 2024 and ending at 1530hrs on Sunday, 11 February 2024 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Fourth Avenue, Melrosegate.

(5) LEEMAN ROAD. YORK

This Order will prohibit pedestrians from proceeding and waiting in those lengths of footway on Leeman Road, York (i) on the northern side of Leeman Road between its junction with Station Avenue and a location 90 metres west of said junction and (ii) on the southern side of Leeman Road between the junction with Station Avenue and a location 106 metres west of said junction (closed footways) and prohibiting pedal cycles from proceeding and waiting in that length of cycle lane on the northern side of Leeman Road between its junction with Station Rise and a location 90 metres west of said junction (closed cycle lane) during the period when footway construction works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0800hrs on Monday, 05 February 2024 and ending at 1800hrs on Friday, 26 April 2024 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. It is envisaged that the works will be carried out in three separate phases. Alternative routes for diverted pedestrians and cyclists will be signed during the works period via Leeman Road, Station Rise, Station Avenue.

(61) LINK ROAD. ACOMB

This Order will prohibit vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of southbound carriageway on Link Road, Acomb between the roundabout controlled junctions with Front Street and York Road (closed carriageway) and prohibiting pedestrians from proceeding in that length of footway on the eastern side of Link Road, Acomb between the roundabout controlled junctions with Front Street and York Road (closed footway) during the period when telecoms works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 1900hrs on Thursday, 08 February 2024 and ending at 0500hrs on Friday, 09 February 2024 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Front Street, Ridgeway, Wetherby Road, York Road. Diverted pedestrians will be routed via York Road and Front Street.

(7) NORTH LANE. HAXBY

This Order will prohibit vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on North Lane, Haxby between the junctions with Station Road and The Village (closed road) during the period when highway resurfacing works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0800hrs on Monday, 05 February 2024 and ending at 1700hrs on Friday, 09 February 2024 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. Additionally, the 'ONE WAY' direction of traffic flow in North Lane is suspended during the period of physical closure to allow two-way traffic flow in the said road. It is envisaged that the road will only be closed between 0800hrs and 1700hrs each day of the works period only. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Station Road, The Village.

(8) FALKLAND STREET. YORK

This Order will prohibit vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Falkland Street, York between the junction with Cromwell Road and a location 10 metres south-west of said junction (closed road) during the period when gas network works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0700hrs on Monday, 05 February 2024 and ending at 1800hrs on Friday, 16 February 2024 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Cromwell Road, Victor Street, Kyme Street.

(9) BACK LANE FROM OPPOSITE PARISH HALL DENNIS STREET. YORK

This Order will prohibit vehicles & pedestrians from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Back Lane From Opposite Parish Hall Dennis Street, York between its junctions with Dennis Street and St Denys Road (closed road) during the period when building demolition works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0001 hrs on Monday, 05 February 2024 and ending at 2359hrs on Friday, 17 May 2024 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Piccadilly, Merchantgate, Walmgate.

(10) ALCUIN AVENUE. YORK

This Order will prohibit vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Alcuin Avenue, York between the junction with Melrosegate and a location 85 metres east of said junction (closed road) during the period when sewer works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 1900hrs on Monday, 05 February 2024 and ending at 2330hrs on Monday, 05 February 2024 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Melrosegate, Hull Road, Tang Hall Lane.

(11) TAMWORTH ROAD. YORK

This Order will prohibit vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Tamworth Road, York between its roundabout controlled junction with Water Lane and a location 20 metres south-east of said junction (closed road) during the period when sewer maintenance works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0900hrs on Tuesday, 06 February 2024 and ending at 1430hrs on Tuesday, 06 February 2024 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Arlington Road, Water Lane.

(12) KIR CRESCENT. YORK

This Order will prohibit vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Kir Crescent, York between the junction with Dijon Avenue and a location 15 metres north-east of said junction (closed road) during the period when power grid works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0800hrs on Tuesday, 06 February 2024 and ending at 1700hrs on Tuesday, 06 February 2024 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Dijon Avenue.

(13) MALTON ROAD. YORK

This Order will prohibit vehicles from proceeding and waiting in those lengths of northbound and southbound carriageway on Malton Road, York between locations 144 metres and 190 metres north of the roundabout controlled junction with Heworth Green (closed carriageways) and pedestrians will be prohibited from proceeding in those lengths of footway and cycleway on the western side of Malton Road, York between locations 144 metres and 190 metres north of the roundabout controlled junction with Heworth Green (closed footway and cycleway) during the period when telecoms works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 2000hrs on Thursday, 08 February 2024 and ending at 2300hrs on Thursday, 08 February 2024 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. Additionally, Part VI of the First Schedule (Malton Road (A1036)) of The York Traffic Management Order 2014 is temporarily revoked for the works period only, to allow travel via the bus lane under the control of traffic signals.

The above temporary Orders will not prohibit works or emergency access nor will they prohibit access to premises provided that access is not prevented by on-going works or safety concerns. Traffic signs/barriers will indicate the extent of the prohibitions/restrictions.
