M25 Motorway, Temporary Traffic Restrictions Due To Works On The Road

M25 MOTORWAY - JUNCTIONS 23 TO 27 TEMPORARY TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS

Notice is hereby given that National Highways Limited has made an Order on the M25 Motorway in the Counties of Hertfordshire and Essex, and the London Borough of Enfield under Section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 because works are proposed to be executed on the road.

The effect of the Order is to: -

1. authorise the overnight closure of -

(a) the road leading from the anti-clockwise carriageway of the M25 at Junction 23 (A1(M) Junction 1/A1);

(b) the road leading from the clockwise carriageway of the M25 at Junction 24 (A111/A1005);

(c) the road leading from the anti-clockwise carriageway of the M25 at Junction 24 (A111/A1005);

(d) the road leading to the clockwise carriageway of the M25 at Junction 25 (A10); and

(e) the roads leading to and from the clockwise carriageway of the M25 at Junction 26 (A121).

2. impose a 24-hour 50mph speed restriction on -

(a) both carriageways of the M25 between a point 300 metres east of the centreline of Blanche Lane overbridge and a point 400 metres east of the centreline of the M11 underbridge;

(b) the road leading to the clockwise carriageway of the M25 at Junction 23 (A1(M) Junction 1/A1);

(c) the road leading from the anti-clockwise carriageway of the M25 at Junction 23 (A1(M) Junction 1/A1);

(d) all of the roads leading to and from both carriageways of the M25 at Junction 24 (A111/A1005);

(e) all of the roads leading to and from both carriageways of the M25 at Junction 25 (A10);

(f) all of the roads leading to and from both carriageways of the M25 at Junction 26 (A121);

(g) the road connecting from the clockwise carriageway of the M25 to both carriageways of the M11 at M25 Junction 27, from its diverge with the M25 to the diverge with the roads connecting to the northbound and southbound carriageways of the M27;

(h) the road connecting to the anti-clockwise carriageway of the M25 from the northbound carriageway of the M11 (from its diverge with the road connecting to the clockwise carriageway of the M25) at Junction 27 (M11 Junction 6); and

(i) the road connecting from the London-bound carriageway of the M11 to the anti-clockwise carriageway of the M25 (from its diverge with the road connecting to the clockwise carriageway of the M25) at M11 Junction 6 (M25 Junction 27).

3. impose an optional alternative 24-hour 60mph speed restriction on the lengths of carriageway and slip/link roads described in 2. above.

These measures are in the interests of road safety while contractors undertake installation of new emergency refuge areas and all associated works including Stopped Vehicle Detection (SVD) upgrade. It is expected that the work will last for approximately 18 months starting on or after Monday 5th February 2024. The overnight closures will take place between the following hours (maximum periods) -Mondays - Thursdays 22:00 - 05:30, Fridays 23:00 - 06:00, Saturdays 22:00 - 06:00, Sundays 22:30 - 05:30

The Order will come into force on 3rd February 2024 and have a maximum duration of eighteen months, ceasing when the works are complete. Please visit National Highways website for closure details. Traffic affected by the closures will be diverted via other junctions of the M25 and M11.

The temporary speed limits, closures and diversion routes will be clearly indicated by traffic signs when they are in operation during the works period.
