What is happening?

WESTMORLAND AND FURNESS COUNCIL

(LAKE ROAD AND CHURCH STREET, AMBLESIDE) (TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION) ORDER 2024

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable utility works to be carried out ("the Works"), Westmorland and Furness Council intends to make an Order the effect of which is to: Prohibit all traffic (i.e. vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists), from proceeding along that section of the Lake Road, Ambleside, from its junction with the Kelsick Road, extending in a northerly direction for approx. 40 metres. A suitable alternative route for vehicles will be signed and available via the unrestricted sections of Lake Road, Church Street and Kelsick Road.

N.B. To facilitate the alternative route and maintain access the one-way restriction on Lake Road, Ambleside from its junction with Church Street extending in a southerly direction to its junction with Kelsick Road will be temporarily suspended for the duration of the works.

Prohibit any vehicle from waiting at any time, on any day and/or from loading and unloading, at any time, on any day (including blue badge holders) along the following sections of road: Church Street, Ambleside (southern side) from its junction with Lake Road extending in a south westerly direction to its junction with Kelsick Road; and Lake Road, Ambleside (western side) from its junction with Church Street extending in a southerly direction to its junction with Kelsick Road.

The Order will come into operation on 2nd February 2024 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restriction will only be required for 1 day, between the hours of 08:00 and 17:00 only and only as and when the appropriate traffic signs are displayed.
