What is happening?
TEMPORARY TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS
Notice is hereby given that City of York Council (the Council), in exercise of powers under Sections 14(1) & 15(8) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (the Act), made an order on the 18th day of January 2024 in respect of the locations numbered (1), (2), (3), (4), (5), (6) & (7). Furthermore, the Council, not less than 7 days from the publication of this Notice, intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Act in respect of the locations numbered (8), (9) & (10).
(1) YORK ROAD. ACOMB
This Order prohibits vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on York Road, Acomb between the roundabout controlled junction with Link Road and the junction with The Green (closed road) during the period when highway maintenance works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0900hrs on Monday, 22 January 2024 and ending at 1600hrs on Friday, 26 January 2024 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Wetherby Road (B1224), A1237, Boroughbridge Road (A59), Poppleton Road, Acomb Road.
(2) DANESFORT AVENUE & STUART ROAD. YORK
This Order prohibits vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Danesfort Avenue & Stuart Road, York (i) on Danesfort Road between locations 37 metres east and west of the junction with Stuart Road and (ii) on Stuart Road between locations 27 metres north and south of the junction with Danesfort Avenue (closed roads) during the period when highway resurfacing works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0800hrs on Monday, 22 January 2024 and ending at 1700hrs on Friday, 26 January 2024 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Middleton Road, Tudor Road, Kingsway West.
(3) HOWARD DRIVE. YORK
This Order prohibits vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Howard Drive, York between the junction with the A19 Shipton Road and a location 45 metres north-east of said junction (closed road) during the period when highway resurfacing works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0800hrs on Monday, 22 January 2024 and ending at 1700hrs on Friday, 26 January 2024 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Howard Link, Rawcliffe Croft, Manor Lane.
(4) LEEMAN ROAD. YORK
This Order prohibits pedestrians from proceeding and waiting in that length of footway on Leeman Road, York between the projected western boundary of the Bullnose Building and a location 180 metres east of said projected boundary (closed footway) during the period when power grid works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0800hrs on Monday, 22 January 2024 and ending at 1800hrs on Friday, 26 January 2024 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted pedestrians will be signed during the works period via Marble Arch Tunnel.
(5) MILL LANE. WIGGINTON
This Order prohibits vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Mill Lane, Wigginton between the junction with Walmer Carr and a location 35 metres east of the junction with Westfield Lane (closed road) during the period when highway resurfacing works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0900hrs on Monday, 22 January 2024 and ending at 1600hrs on Tuesday, 23 January 2024 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. It is envisaged that the road will only be closed between 0900hrs and 1600hrs each day during the works period. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via The Village, York Road, Haxby Road, A1237, Wigginton Road.
(6) WAINS GROVE. YORK
This Order prohibits vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Wains Grove, York between the junctions with Chaloners Road and Wains Road (closed road) during the period when highway resurfacing works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0800hrs on Tuesday, 23 January 2024 and ending at 1700hrs on Monday, 29 January 2024 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Chaloners Road, Herdmans Road, Wains Road.
(7) FARNDALE AVENUE. YORK
This Order prohibits vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Farndale Avenue, York between a location 55 metres south-west of the junction with Hazelwood Avenue and a location 15 metres north-east of the junction with Brooklands (closed road) during the period when highway resurfacing works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0900hrs on Thursday, 25 January 2024 and ending at 1600hrs on Thursday, 25 January 2024 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via The Leyes, Osbaldwick Lane, Murton Way, Tranby Avenue.
(8) HEWORTH VILLAGE (CONTINUATION). YORK
This Order continues in force The York (Heworth Village) (Temporary Traffic Restriction) Order 2023 (original Order). The effect of which is to continue in force the prohibition on pedestrians from proceeding and waiting in that length of footway on Heworth Village, York between its junction with Glaisby Court and a location 31 metres south-west of said junction (closed footway) during the period commencing at 1631 hours on Monday, 22 January 2024 and ending at 2359hrs on Friday, 26 January 2024 (works period) or on a date when dropped kerb installation works being undertaken thereon have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. Additionally, all on-street parking places situated (i) on the northern side of Heworth Village between the projected north-eastern boundaries of the Clock House Dental Practice and the Walnut Tree Public House and (ii) on the north-eastern side of Glaisby Court between the junction with Heworth Village and a location 27 metres south-east of said junction (suspension areas) will be subject to suspension for the works period only. An alternative route for diverted pedestrians will be signed during the works period.
(9) BACK LANE BETWEEN 16A AND 26 HESLINGTON ROAD. YORK
This Order will prohibit vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Back Lane Between 16a and 26 Heslington Road, York between the junction with Gordon Street and a location 19 metres north-west of said junction (closed road) during the period when electricity grid works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0800hrs on Monday, 29 January 2024 and ending at 1800hrs on Friday, 02 February 2024 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Gordon Street, Wellington Street, Willis Street.
(10) MILLFIELD LANE LEVEL CROSSING. POPPLETON
This Order will prohibit vehicles & pedestrians from proceeding through that length of road at Millfield Lane Level Crossing, Poppleton (closed road) during the period when railway maintenance works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 2300hrs on Monday, 29 January 2024 and ending at 0625hrs on Friday, 02 February 2024 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted pedestrians and vehicles will be signed during the works period. Vehicles will be allowed to use the bus gate between Millfield Lane and Low Poppleton Lane, for ingress and egress, without risk of enforcement action, for the works duration only.
The above temporary Orders will not prohibit works or emergency access nor will they prohibit access to premises provided that access is not prevented by on-going works or safety concerns.
