Portsmouth City Council (City Centre South) (Temporary Prohibition of Motor Vehicles, Loading and Waiting) (No.6) Order 2024

Notice is hereby given that Portsmouth City Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended by the Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991.
The Order comes into operation from 12th January 2024 and the effect will be as follows:
A) TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF MOTOR VEHICLES EXCEPT FOR BUSES, ACCESS TO CATHEDRAL, CASCADES SERVICE AREA, TAXIS (INCLUDING PRIVATE HIRE), ACCESS FOR LOADING, AND CYCLES
UNICORN ROAD (SOUTHBOUND)
From its junction with Marketway to its junction with Edinburgh Road.
B) TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF MOTOR VEHICLES
STANHOPE ROAD

Southbound from its junction with Willis Road (north) to its junction with Willis Road (south).
C) TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF LOADING AND WAITING
WILLIS ROAD
In its entirety (except for marked bays)
D) TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF MOTOR VEHICLES, EXCEPT FOR BUSES, TAXIS, (INCLUDING PRIVATE HIRE), ACCESS FOR LOADING AND CYCLES
EDINBURGH ROAD
In its entirety.
COMMERCIAL ROAD
From its junction with Edinburgh Road to its junction with Station Street.
E) TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF MOTOR VEHICLES, EXCEPT FOR BUSES AND CYCLES, ACCESS TO STATION, TAXIS (INCLUDING PRIVATE HIRE), ACCESS TO SURREY STREET AND PAY AND DISPLAY PARKING BAYS
STATION STREET (WESTBOUND)
From its junction with Slindon Street to its junction with Commercial Road.
F) TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF MOTOR VEHICLES, EXCEPT FOR BUSES, CYCLES AND TAXIS (INCLUDING PRIVATE HIRE) AND LOADING
ISAMBARD BRUNEL ROAD
From its junction with Dugald Drummond Street to its junction with Commercial Road.
COMMERCIAL ROAD
From its junction with Isambard Brunel Road to its junction with Station Street.
G) TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF MOTOR VEHICLES, CYCLES, LOADING AND WAITING (AS NOTIFIED BY SIGNAGE)
STANHOPE ROAD
From its junction with Willis Road (south) to its junction with Commercial Road.
STATION STREET
From its junction with Commercial Road to its junction with Surrey Street.
ISAMBARD BRUNEL ROAD
From its junction with Dugald Drummond Street to its junction with Commercial Road.
COMMERCIAL ROAD
From its junction with Isambard Brunel Road to its junction with Station Street.
H) REASON FOR THE ORDER
To facilitate carriageway widening of Isambard Brunel Road and construction of signalised pedestrian crossing at the junction of Commercial Road and Station Street.
I) DURATION OF THE ORDER
From 20:00 on 12th January 2024 to 31st May 2024 or completion of the works, whichever is sooner.
Works will be carried out in sections. Each works will be notified by the placement of advance notice signs and letters to affected residents and businesses.
J) DIVERSION
Pedestrian and cycle access will be maintained around the works. Cycles to follow vehicles diversion or dismount and follow pedestrian diversion.
Vehicles will be diverted from:
Stanhope Road - Alfred Road, Anglesea Road, St Michael's Road, Winston Churchill Avenue, Isambard Brunel Road, Commercial Road.
Station Street - Stanhope Road, Unicorn Road, Alfred Road, Market Way, Hope Street Roundabout, Market Way Roundabout, Commercial Road, Cornmill Street, Cornmill Street Roundabout, Lake Road, Lake Road Roundabout, Church Street, Holbrook Road, Arundel Street Roundabout, Arundel Street, Station Street.
Isambard Brunel Road and Commercial Road - Winston Churchill Avenue Roundabout, Winston Churchill Avenue, Bradford Junction Roundabout, Holbrook Road, Carlisle Road, Somers Road North, Arundel Street Roundabout, Arundel Street, Station Street.
