THE SURREY COUNTY COUNCIL
The Borough of Reigate and Banstead (A242 Gatton Park Road (Part) Reigate/Redhill) (40 mph Speed Limit) Order 1997 (Amendment No. 1) Order 2024

On 16 January 2024 Surrey County Council made the above named Order, under Section 84 of and Part IV of Schedule 9 to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (“the Act”) and all other enabling powers, which will come into force on 22 January 2024. The effect of which will be that part of The Borough of Reigate and Banstead (A242 Gatton Park Road (Part) Reigate/Redhill) (40 mph Speed Limit) Order 1997 will be revoked in so far as it imposes a 40 mph speed limit on that length of A242 Gatton Park Road, Redhill as extends from the existing terminal point, 18.5m south-west of the centre line junction with Colesmead Road south-westwards for approximately 56.5m to lamp column 17. The overall effect of the amendment and revocation will be that such length of road will become subject to a 30mph speed limit by reason of the provision of a system of street lighting, pursuant to Sections 81(1) and 82(1) of the Act.

Copies of a plan showing the length of road to which the Order relates, a Statement of the Council’s reasons for making the Order and a copy of the made Order and Order amended, may be viewed at (1) Redhill Library, Warwick Quadrant, Redhill, Surrey RH1 1NN, during normal opening hours; and at (2) Reception, Surrey County Council, Hazel House, Merrow Lane, Guildford, Surrey, GU4 7BQ, by appointment, until six weeks from the date of the making of the Order.
