What is happening?
CAMBRIDGESHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL
NOTICE is given that Cambridgeshire County Council intends after seven days, to make an Order pursuant to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended by the Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991, the effect of which:
Water Street, Cambridge (TEMPORARY SUSPENSION OF CYCLE LANE) ORDER 2024-172
Will be to temporarily suspend the cycle lane on Water Street, Cambridge as lies between numbers 60 and 80. During the period this Order remains in force The City of Cambridge Area C (Consolidation) Order 1993; Schedule 23 Part 2 Mandatory with flow cycle lane, Water Street on its south side from a point 101 metres west of its junction with Fen Road for a distance of 122 metres in a westerly direction.
Water Street on its south side from a point 223 metres west of its junction with Fen Road for a distance of 6 metres in a northerly direction is hereby suspended.
The proposed Order is necessary to facilitate water connection and associated works which are being carried out on or near the cycle lane and it will come into operation on 27 February 2024 and continue until these works have finished or on the 26 August 2025 whichever is the earlier.
This Order shall be in force when the signs are in place at each end of the above section of road whilst works taking place on Water Street, Cambridge are in progress. It is anticipated that these works will be carried out between 27 February and 4 March 2024.
High Street (B1102), Burwell (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2024-174
Is to stop any vehicle from proceeding along High Street (B1102), Burwell as lies between Spring Close and Wild Acres.
The alternative route for vehicles is via B1102 – B1103 and vice versa.
The proposed Order is necessary to facilitate water connection and associated works which are being carried out on or near this highway and it will come into operation on 18 February 2024 and continue until these works have finished or on the 17 August 2025 whichever is the earlier. It is anticipated that these works will be carried out between 08:00hrs and 19:00hrs 18 February 2024.
Histon Road (B1049), Cambridge (TEMPORARY SUSPENSION OF BUS LANE AND CYCLE LANE) ORDER 2024-175
Will be to temporarily suspend the bus lane and cycle lane on Histon Road (B1049), Cambridge as lies between Carisbrooke Road and Chancellors Walk.
During the period this Order remains in force The City of Cambridge Area B (Consolidation) Order 1993, Schedule 23 – Cycle lane Part 2 – Mandatory with flow cycle lane, Histon Road – On both sides of the road of the carriageway from its junction with Gilber Road to its junction with Cambridge Road, Impington is hereby suspended.
During the period this Order remains in force the Cambridgeshire County Council (Various Streets, Cambridge) (Bus Lanes) Order 2022, Schedule 1 – Roads and parts of road on which any vehicle other than a pedal cycle, bus, hackney carriage or private hire vehicle is prohibited at all times on all days
Histon Road – On the eastern side of the carriageway from it junction with Blackhall Road until its junction with Carisbrooke Road is hereby suspended.
The proposed Order is necessary to facilitate carriageway reinstatement works which are being carried out on or near the bus lane and cycle lane and it will come into operation on 17 February 2024 and continue until these works have finished or on the 16 August 2024 whichever is the earlier.
This Order shall be in force when the signs are in place at each end of the above section of road whilst works taking place on Histon Road (B1049), Cambridge are in progress. It is anticipated that these works will be carried out between 17 February and 18 February 2024.
Hooper Street and Kingston Street, Cambridge (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2024-176
Is to stop any vehicle from proceeding along Hooper Street and Kingston Street, Cambridge as lies between 72 Kingston Street and Gwydir Street.
The alternative route for vehicles is via Gwydir Street – Mill Road – Kingston Street and vice versa.
The proposed Order is necessary to facilitate electrical ducting and associated works which are being carried out on or near this highway and it will come into operation on 26 February 2024 and continue until these works have finished or on the 25 August 2025 whichever is the earlier. It is anticipated that these works will be carried out between 26 February and 3 March 2024.
Rampton Road, Cottenham (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2024-179
Is to stop any vehicle from proceeding along Rampton Road, Cottenham as lies between Rampthill Farm and Oakington Road.
The alternative route for vehicles is via Oakington Road – Oakington Road, Westwick, Station Road, Oakington – Water Lane – Dry Drayton Road – A1307 – B1050 – Church Street, Willingham – Green Street – Rampton End – Rampton Road – High Street, Rampton – The Green – Church End – Rampton Road, Cottenham and vice versa.
The proposed Order is necessary to facilitate fire hydrant repairs and associated works which are being carried out on or near this highway and it will come into operation on 20 February 2024 and continue until these works have finished or on the 19 August 2025 whichever is the earlier. It is anticipated that these works will be carried out between 20 February and 22 February 2024.
Hinton Road and Pierce Lane, Fulbourn (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2024-182
Is to stop any vehicle from proceeding along Hinton Road and Pierce Lane, Fulbourn as lies between Cambridge Road and High Street.
The alternative route for vehicles is via High Street – School Lane – Cambridge Road and vice versa.
The proposed Order is necessary to facilitate gas main replacement and associated works which are being carried out on or near this highway and it will come into operation on 5 February 2024 and continue until these works have finished or on the 4 August 2025 whichever is the earlier. It is anticipated that these works will be carried out between 5 February and 12 April 2024.
Rampton Road, Cottenham (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2024-183
Is to stop any vehicle from proceeding along Rampton Road, Cottenham as lies between Oakington Road and Ellis Close.
The alternative route for vehicles is via Oakington Road – Oakington Road, Westwick – Station Road, Oakington – Water Lane – Cambridge Road – New Road – Park Lane, Histon School Hill – High Street – B1049 – Rampton Road, Cottenham and vice versa.
The proposed Order is necessary to facilitate telecommunications and associated works which are being carried out on or near this highway and it will come into operation on 5 February 2024 and continue until these works have finished or on the 4 August 2025 whichever is the earlier. It is anticipated that these works will be carried out between 09:30hrs and 15:30hrs 5 February 2024.
Barton Road (A603), Cambridge (Layby) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF WAITING) ORDER 2024-186
Is to stop any vehicle from parking/waiting along Barton Road (A603), Cambridge (Layby) as lies between number 114 and The Bungalow.
The Order will be effective, for safety purposes, when signs are in place indicating the layby closure along the whole or any part of the above mentioned length of road whilst works are in progress or temporarily suspended.
The proposed Order is necessary to facilitate carriageway and footway improvements and associated works which are being carried out on or near this highway and it will come into operation on 14 February 2024 and continue until these works have finished or on the 13 August 2025 whichever is the earlier. It is anticipated that these works will be carried out between 14 February and 30 August 2024.
Aragon Close, Cambridge (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2024-187
Is to stop any vehicle from proceeding along Aragon Close, Cambridge as lies between numbers 18 and 36.
The proposed Order is necessary to facilitate surface water channel and associated works which are being carried out on or near this highway and it will come into operation on 5 February 2024 and continue until these works have finished or on the 4 August 2025 whichever is the earlier. It is anticipated that these works will be carried out between 5 February and 16 February 2024.
High Street, Great Abington (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2024-192
Is to stop any vehicle from proceeding along High Street, Great Abington as lies between Pampisford Road and Linton Road.
The alternative route for vehicles is via Pampisford Road – A1307 – Linton Road and vice versa.
The proposed Order is necessary to facilitate telecommunications and associated works which are being carried out on or near this highway and it will come into operation on 19 February 2024 and continue until these works have finished or on the 18 August 2025 whichever is the earlier. It is anticipated that these works will be carried out between 08:00hrs and 18:00hrs 19 February to 23 February 2024.
Newmarket Road (A1134), Cambridge (TEMPORARY SUSPENSION OF BUS LANE) ORDER 2024-193
Will be to temporarily suspend the bus lane as lies between numbers 444 and 536.
During the period this Order remains in force The Cambridgeshire County Council (Various Streets, Cambridge) (Bus Lanes) Order 2022; Schedule 1 roads and parts of roads on which any vehicle other than a pedal cycle, bus, hackney carriage or private hire vehicle is prohibited at all times on all days Newmarket Road on its south side from a point 155 metres west of its junction with Ditton walk to a point 50 metres northeast of its junction with River Lane is hereby suspended.
The proposed Order is necessary to facilitate bridge repairs and associated works which are being carried out on or near the bus lane and it will come into operation on 19 February 2024 and continue until these works have finished or on the 18 August 2025 whichever is the earlier.
This Order shall be in force when the signs are in place at each end of the above section of road whilst works taking place on Newmarket Road (A1134), Cambridge are in progress. It is anticipated that these works will be carried out between 09:30hrs and 15:00hrs 19 February to 24 March 2024.
Kings Hedges Road to Lavender Road and Kings Hedges Road, Cambridge (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF USE) ORDER 2024-196
Is to stop any pedestrian from proceeding along Kings Hedges Road to Lavender Road and Kings Hedges Road, Cambridge as lies between Markham Close and 127 Kings Hedges Road.
The alternative route for pedestrians will be as signed.
The proposed Order is necessary to facilitate gas connection and associated works which are being carried out on or near this highway and it will come into operation on 14 February 2024 and continue until these works have finished or on the 13 August 2024 whichever is the earlier. It is anticipated that these works will be carried out between 14 February and 16 February 2024.
Mill Lane, Sawston (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2024-197
Is to stop any vehicle from proceeding along Mill Lane, Sawston as lies between the A1301 and New Road.
The alternative route for vehicles is via A1301 – Cambridge Road and vice versa.
The proposed Order is necessary to facilitate duct installation and associated works which are being carried out on or near this highway and it will come into operation on 25 February 2024 and continue until these works have finished or on the 24 August 2025 whichever is the earlier. It is anticipated that these works will be carried out between 25 February and 1 March 2024.
Station Road, Cambridge (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF USE) ORDER 2024-199
Is to stop any pedestrian from proceeding along Station Road, Cambridge as lies between numbers 10 and 12.
The alternative route for pedestrians will be as signed.
The proposed Order is necessary to facilitate removal of tower crane and associated works which are being carried out on or near this highway and it will come into operation on 3 February 2024 and continue until these works have finished or on the 2 August 2024 whichever is the earlier. It is anticipated that these works will be carried out between 06:00hrs and 20:00hrs 3 February to 4 February 2024.
Cherry Hinton Road, Great Shelford, Lime Kiln Road and Worts Causeway, Cambridge (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2024-200
Is to stop any vehicle from proceeding along Cherry Hinton Road, Great Shelford, Lime Kiln Road and Worts Causeway, Cambridge as lies between 10m of all 4 junctions.
The alternative route for vehicles is via A1307 – Queen Ediths Way, Cambridge – Fulbourn Road – Cambridge Road, Fulbourn – Balsham Road – A11 – Cambridge Road, Babraham – A1307 and vice versa.
The proposed Order is necessary to facilitate electrical ducting installation and associated works which are being carried out on or near this highway and it will come into operation on 17 February 2024 and continue until these works have finished or on the 16 August 2025 whichever is the earlier. It is anticipated that these works will be carried out between 17 February and 25 February 2024.
North Street, Burwell (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2024-201
Is to stop any vehicle from proceeding along North Street, Burwell as lies between Dyson Drove and Broads Road.
The proposed Order is necessary to facilitate pot hole repairs and associated works which are being carried out on or near this highway and it will come into operation on 8 February 2024 and continue until these works have finished or on the 7 August 2025 whichever is the earlier. It is anticipated that these works will be carried out between 07:30hrs and 18:00hrs 8 February 2024.
Station Road and Hinton Way, Great Shelford (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2024-202
Is to stop any vehicle from proceeding along Station Road and Hinton Way, Great Shelford as lies between 109 Hinton Way and Shelford Park Avenue.
The alternative route for vehicles is via A1301 – A1309 – A1134 – A1307 and vice versa.
The proposed Order is necessary to facilitate gas main replacement and associated works which are being carried out on or near this highway and it will come into operation on 5 February 2024 and continue until these works have finished or on the 4 August 2025 whichever is the earlier. It is anticipated that these works will be carried out between 5 February and 10 May 2024.
Dry Drayton Road, Oakington and New Barns Lane, Connington (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2024-206
Is to stop any vehicle from proceeding along Dry Drayton Road, Oakington and New Barns Lane. Connington as lies between the A1307 and Cambridge Road; Elsworth Road and the A14 flyover respectively.
The alternative route for vehicles is via A1307 – B1050 – Berrycroft, Willingham – Long Lane – Newington – Rampton Road (C186) – High Street, Rampton – The Green (C186) – Church End – Rampton Road, Cottenham – Oakington Road – Oakington Road, Westwick – Station Road, Oakington – Water Lane and vice versa or via Conington Road (C181) – Conington Road (C181), Fenstanton – Cambridge Road (C185) – A1307 – New Barns Lane, Conington and vice versa.
The proposed Order is necessary to facilitate surface treatment and associated works which are being carried out on or near this highway and it will come into operation on 1 February 2024 and continue until these works have finished or on the 31 July 2025 whichever is the earlier. It is anticipated that these works will be carried out between (Various times between) 1 February 2024 and 31 July 2025.
Bar Hill Intersection On and Off Slips to A14 (B1050) and Hattons Road (B1050), Longstanton (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2024-209
Is to stop any vehicle from proceeding along Bar Hill Intersection On and Off Slips to A14 (B1050) and Hattons Road (B1050), Longstanton as lies between Hazewell Court and Saxon Way, Bar Hill.
The alternative route for vehicles is via B1050 – A1307 – A14 – B1050 and vice versa.

Is to stop any vehicle from proceeding along Barrington Road, Foxton, Foxton Road (C262) and Challis Green, Barrington as lies between the A10 and High Street, Barrington.
The alternative route for vehicles is via Haslingfield Road, Barrington – Chapel Hill – Chapel Hill, Haslingfield – Church Street – High Street – Harston Road – Haslingfield Road – Church Street, Harston – A10 and vice versa.
The proposed Order is necessary to facilitate carriageway patching and associated works which are being carried out on or near this highway and it will come into operation on 26 February 2024 and continue until these works have finished or on the 25 August 2025 whichever is the earlier. It is anticipated that these works will be carried out between 08:00hrs and 16:00hrs 26 February to 29 February 2024.
Milton Road, Impington (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2024-217
Is to stop any vehicle from proceeding along Milton Road, Impington as lies between Butt Lane and Impington Lane.

The proposed Order is necessary to facilitate installation of raised crossing and associated works which are being carried out on or near this highway and it will come into operation on 19 February 2024 and continue until these works have finished or on the 18 August 2025 whichever is the earlier. It is anticipated that these works will be carried out between 08:00hrs and 17:00hrs 19 February and 25 February 2024.
Newmarket Road, Cambridge (TEMPORARY SUSPENSION OF BUS AND CYCLE LANE) ORDER 2024-037
Will be to temporarily suspend the bus and cycle lane as lies between hoarding adjacent DFS to opposite footway.
During the period this Order remains in force the Cambridgeshire County Council (Various Streets, Cambridge) (Bus Lanes) Order 2022, Schedule 1: Roads and parts of roads on which any vehicles other than a pedal cycle, bus, Hackney Carriage or private hire vehicle is prohibited at all times on all days
Newmarket Road: On its north side from a point 65 metres northeast of its junction with River Lane to a point 30 metres northeast of its junction with Garlic Row, Newmarket Road: On its south side from a point 155 metres west of its junction with Ditton Walk to a point 50 metres northeast of its junction with River Lane is hereby suspended.
