What is happening?

MANCHESTER CITY COUNCIL TEMPORARY ROAD TRAFFIC
REGULATION ORDER ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984
SECTION 14 (AS AMENDED) Notice is hereby given that the
City Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of
this Notice, to make the following Temporary One Way Traffic
Order(s): ORDER NO. MCC136444133: The City of Manchester
(Oxford Street & Whitworth Street, Piccadilly Ward) (Temporary
One Way Vehicular Traffic) Order 2024 under s14 of the Road
Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The effect of the Order is to make
Oxford Street one-way from Chepstow Street to Whitworth
Street & make Whitworth Street one-way from Princess Street
to Oxford Street (permitted direction of travel). The alternative
routes for traffic on Oxford Street will be: Chepstow Street,
Great Bridgewater Street, Albion Street, Whitworth Street West
& for traffic on Whitworth Street will be: Oxford Street, Portland
Street, Piccadilly, London Road, Fairfield Street. The City
Council is satisfied that this restriction is necessary in order
a MEWP. It is expected that the works will be in progress from
28th January 2024 to 29th January 2024 between the hours
of 22:00 and 06:00. The Order shall come into operation on
28th January 2024 and may remain in force for a maximum
period of eighteen months. If all necessary works are completed
within a shorter period, the Order shall cease to have effect
at the end of that shorter period. Dated: 16 January 2024.
ORDER NO. MCC136883118: The City of Manchester (Shirley
Road, Cheetham Ward) (Temporary Prohibition of Vehicular
Traffic) Order 2024 under s14 of the Road Traffic Regulation
Act 1984. The effect of the Order is to prohibit vehicular traffic
on Shirley Road from Cheetham hill Road to Avondale Street.
The alternative routes for traffic will be: Cheetham Hill Road,
Greenhill Road, Woodlands Road and Vice Versa. The City
Council is satisfied that this prohibition is necessary in order
to facilitate utility works. It is expected that the works will be
in progress on 29th January 2024. The order shall come into
operation on 29th January 2024 and may remain in force for a
maximum period of eighteen months. If all necessary works are
completed within a shorter period, the Order shall cease to have
effect at the end of that shorter period. Dated: 16 January 2024.
ORDER NO. MCC136886001: The City of Manchester (Purcell
Street, Longsight Ward) (Temporary Prohibition of Vehicular
Traffic) Order 2024 under s14 of the Road Traffic Regulation
Act 1984. The effect of the Order is to prohibit vehicular traffic
on Purcell Street from Rushford Street to 36 Purcell Street. The
alternative routes for traffic will be: Rushford Street, Barnby
Street, Northmoor Road and Vice Versa. The City Council is
satisfied that this prohibition is necessary in order to facilitate
Utility Works. It is expected that the works will be in progress
from 29th January 2024 to 31st January 2024. The order shall
come into operation on 29th January 2024 and may remain in
force for a maximum period of eighteen months. If all necessary
works are completed within a shorter period, the Order shall
cease to have effect at the end of that shorter period. Dated:
16 January 2024. ORDER NO. MCC136958296: The City of
Manchester (Southgate & Back South Parade, Deansgate
Ward) (Temporary Prohibition of Vehicular Traffic & Suspension
of One-way Traffic) Order 2024 under s14 of the Road Traffic
Regulation Act 1984. The effect of the Order is to restrict or
prohibit vehicular traffic on Southgate between King Street
West and Back South Parade & on Back South Parade for its
full length. The alternative routes for traffic will be: Southgate,
St Mary’s Street, Deansgate, Bridge Street, St Mary’s Parsonage
& all signed locally on surrounding routes. The City Council is
satisfied that this prohibition is necessary in order to facilitate
repair carriageway link boxes. It is expected that the works will
be in progress from 29th January 2024 to 16th February 2024.
The order shall come into operation on 29th January 2024
and may remain in force for a maximum period of eighteen
months. If all necessary works are completed within a shorter
period, the Order shall cease to have effect at the end of that
