Southend-On-Sea, Temporary Road Closure due to Works.

What is happening?

SOUTHEND-ON-SEA CITY COUNCIL

(RICHMOND AVENUE & WATERLOO ROAD, SOUTHEND ON SEA) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC, PARKING, STOPPING, WAITING, LOADING & UNLOADING) ORDER 2024

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 -SECTION 14(1)

Notice is hereby given that the Southend-on-Sea City Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

The Effect of the order will be to prohibit any vehicle from:-

THESE WORKS WILL BE COMPLETED IN PHASES

Phase 1 & 4 FROM THE 22nd of JANUARY.

1. Proceeding on Richmond Avenue from its junction with Caulfield Road to St Andrews Road.

2. Parking, stopping, waiting, loading, or unloading on Richmond Avenue from its junction with Caulfield Road to St Andrews Road.

3. Entering & exiting Waterloo Road at its junction with Richmond Avenue.

4. Parking, stopping, waiting, loading, or unloading on Waterloo Road from its junction with Richmond Road to West Road.

Phase 5 & 6 DATES WILL BE CONFIRMED ON SITE.

1. Proceeding on Richmond Avenue from its junction with St Andrews Road to its junction with Church Road.

2. Parking, stopping, waiting, loading, or unloading on Richmond Avenue from its junction with St Andrews Road to its junction with Church Road.

The closure is scheduled to commence from 08:00 on the 22nd of January 2024 until 17:00 on 8th March 2024 or where appropriate signs are showing and weather permitting.

The alternative route will be via:-

Phase 1 to 4 - Richmond Avenue - Caulfield Road, Thorpedene Gardens, St Andrews Road, West Road & vice versa.

Waterloo Road - Waterloo Road, Ness Road & St Andrews Road.

Phase 5 to 6 - St Andrews Road, Thorpedene Gardens, Church Road & vice versa.

The Order will come into effect on 22nd January 2024 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce whilst Gas main replacement works takes place.

Access for emergency vehicles, residents and pedestrians will be maintained at all times during the closure.

The prohibitions or restrictions will apply only during such time and to such extent as indicated by traffic signs prescribed by the TRAFFIC SIGNS REGULATIONS AND GENERAL DIRECTIONS 2016.

Any vehicle waiting in contravention of any restriction/prohibition imposed by this Notice may be issued with a Penalty Charge Notice and removed under the provisions of the Traffic Management Act 2004.
