Fishergate - Temporary Prohibition Of Through Traffic

What is happening?

LANCASHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL
(FISHERGATE, PRESTON, PRESTON CITY)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC)
(TEMPORARY SUSPENSION OF ONE-WAY) ORDER 2023

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Lancashire County Council have made an Order under Section 14(1) (a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, the effect of which will be to temporarily prohibit traffic on the roads set out in this notice.
1. No person shall cause any motor vehicle to proceed over that length of Fishergate, Preston from its junction with Glovers Court to its junction with Corporation Street.
2. Nothing in this order shall apply to persons engaged in the carrying out of the works.
3. The prohibition will be operative between Monday to Saturday from 0930 hours until 1530 hours from 22nd January 2024 until 2nd February 2024 or until completion of the works within this period. Deliveries to businesses to be pre-arranged following a letter drop and co-ordinated with traffic management arrangements.
4. An alternative route for vehicular traffic affected by the closure is via: -
Glover Court – Syke Street – Avenham Lane – Queens Street – Stanley Street – Ring Way – Corporation Street – Fishergate
Winckley Square – Cross Street – Syke Street
AND FURTHER – The one-way system will be suspended as follows to allow access: -
Mount Street
Charnley Street
Winckley Street
AND FURTHER – The prohibition of right turn at the junction of St Wilfred Street and Charnley Street will be suspended.
The temporary prohibition is necessary to allow Lancashire County Council to carry out carriageway maintenance works.
