(THORNY NOOK LANE, WALNEY ISLAND, BARROW-IN-FURNESS)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF ALL TRAFFIC) ORDER 2024
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that because of the likelihood of danger to the public, as a result of flooding, Westmorland and Furness Council has made an Order the effect of which is to prohibit all traffic (i.e. vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists) from proceeding along that section of Thorny Nook Lane, Walney Island, Barrow-in-Furness from its junction with Biggar Bank Road extending in a south easterly direction for approx 600m.
A suitable alternative route will be signed and available via the unrestricted section of Thorny Nook Lane, Carr Lane, Ocean Road (A590) and Biggar Bank Road.
This follows emergency notices dated 5 December 2023 and 26 December 2023.
Nothing in the Order to which this notice relates shall:
1. Have the effect of preventing at any time access for pedestrians to any premises situated on or adjacent to the road, or to any other premises accessible for pedestrians from, and only from the road; and
2. Apply to personnel or vehicles being used in connection with the Works.

The Order will come into operation on 16 January 2024 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months and only as and when the appropriate traffic signs are displayed.
