ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984: SECTION 14(1) TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC ORDER 2023 DAME ALICE STREET AND ST LOYES STREET, BEDFORD 23 – 129

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Bedford Borough Council has made an Order the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicle except a vehicle being used for fire, police or ambulance purposes in an emergency, from proceeding along the length of Dame Alice Street from Harpur Street to St Peters Street, and St Loyes Street from Dame Alice Street to Allhallows Bedford.

This temporary road closure is required to facilitate GPR Survey and shall apply to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the appropriate traffic signs. This temporary road closure is anticipated to be in operation 20:00 to 06:00 hours from 18th January 2024 to 21st January 2024

The signed alternative route for vehicles affected by the order is available via High Street, St Pauls Square, Horne Lane, River Street, Greyfriars, Hassett Street.

The reverse route applies.

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984: SECTION 14(1) TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC ORDER 2023 THE SPINNEY, BEDFORD 23 – 120

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Bedford Borough Council has made an Order the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicle except a vehicle being used for fire, police or ambulance purposes in an emergency, from proceeding along the length of The Spinney Bedford outside 18.

This temporary road closure is required to facilitate pole renewal and shall apply to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the appropriate traffic signs. This temporary road closure is anticipated to be in operation 09:30 to 15:30 hours 11th January 2024

The signed alternative route for vehicles affected by the order is available via The Copse, Turnpike Way, Elliott Crescent, The Spinney.

The reverse route applies.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Bedford Borough Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this Notice to make an Order the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicle, except a vehicle being used for fire, police or ambulance purposes in an emergency, from proceeding along Silver Street Stevington.

This temporary road closure is required to access a pole for testing and shall apply to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the appropriate traffic signs. This temporary road closure is anticipated to be in operation 09:30 to 15:30 hours 7th February 2024

The signed alternative route for vehicles affected by the order is available via Northampton Road, Bromham Bypass, Stagsden Road, Village Road, Oakley Road, Park Road.

BEDFORD BOROUGH COUNCIL PROPOSE TO INTRODUCE NEW PARKING RESTRICTIONS IN HUDSON ROAD AND EDISON ROAD, BEDFORD

Reason for Proposal:

As part of a Section 278 Agreement in connection with the construction of new entrances to industrial units, Bedford Borough Council proposes to introduce new parking restrictions along Hudson Road and Edison Road, Bedford.

Effect of the Order:

1. To introduce ‘No waiting at any time’ restrictions (double yellow lines) on the following lengths of roads:

A  Hudson Road, Bedford

(i)    On its northern kerb, extending from the centre of Stratton Way for a distance of approx. 13.5 metres in an easterly direction.

(ii)   On its northern kerb, extending from the centre of Stratton Way for a distance of approx. 14 metres in a westerly direction.

(iii)   On its southern kerb, extending from the centre of Stratton Way for a distance of approx. 84.5 metres in an easterly direction.

(iii)   On its southern kerb, extending from the centre of Stratton Way for a distance of approx. 71 metres in a westerly direction.

(iv)  On its northern kerb, extending from a point approx. 56 metres west of the centre of Hammond Road for a distance of approx. 50 metres in a westerly direction.

(vi)  On its southern kerb, extending from a point approx. 110 metres west of the centre of Hammond Road for a distance of approx. 42 metres in a westerly direction.

B   Stratton Way, Bedford

(i)    On both sides of the road, from the southern side of Hudson Road extending for a distance of approx. 10 metres in a southerly direction.

C     New access off Hudson Road to Industrial Units

(i)    On both sides of the road, extending from the southern side of Hudson Road for a distance of approx. 12 metres in a southerly direction to the extent of proposed adopted highway.

C    Edison Road, Bedford

(i)    On its eastern side, extending from a point approx. 115 metres south of the centre of Hudson Road for a distance of approx. 59 metres in a southerly direction.

(ii)   On its western side, extending from a point approx. 126.5 metres south of the centre of Hudson Road for a distance of approx. 65 metres in a southerly direction.

D      New access off Edison Road to Industrial Units

(i)    On both sides, extending from the eastern side of Edison Road for a distance of approx. 14 metres in an easterly direction to the extent of proposed adopted highway.

BEDFORD BOROUGH COUNCIL PROPOSE TO FORMALISE AN EXISTING DISABLED PERSONS PARKING BAY IN PARK AVENUE, BEDFORD

Reason for Proposal:

Bedford Borough Council has received a request to formalise an existing disabled persons parking bay in Park Avenue, Bedford. The formalisation will help discourage abuse of the bay by enabling strict enforcement of its parking restrictions. There will be no time limit for the disabled parking bay.

Effect of the Order:

1. To formalise an existing disabled persons parking bay at the following location: A Park Avenue, Bedford

(i)    On its northern kerb, extending from a point approx. 1.8 metres west of the projected eastern  boundary of property number 2 Park Avenue for a distance of approx. 5.8 metres in an easterly direction.

BEDFORD BOROUGH COUNCIL PROPOSE TO EXTEND EXISTING PARKING RESTRICTIONS IN LYNTON GROVE, BEDFORD

Reason for Proposal:

Bedford Borough Council has received a request from Ward Councillors to extend the existing parking restrictions in Lynton Grove at its junction with Ampthill  Road, Bedford. This is in response to concerns raised over inconsiderate parking at this location which affects visibility and safety, so these restrictions are intended to remedy that.

Effect of the Order:

1. To extend existing ‘No waiting at any time’ restrictions (double yellow lines) on the following lengths of road:

A  Lynton Grove (southern arm), Bedford

(i)    On both sides of the road, from a point approx. 5 metres east of the eastern side of Ampthill Road (the end of the existing ‘No waiting at any time’ restriction) to a point approx. 10 metres east of the eastern side of Ampthill Road.

BEDFORD BOROUGH COUNCIL (40MPH SPEED LIMIT) (THE PARISH OF STEVINGTON) ORDER 2023

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that on 21st December 2023 Bedford Borough Council made the above Traffic Regulation Order, the effect of which is detailed below:Effect of the Order:

1. To introduce a 40mph speed limit on the following length of road:

A   Park Road, Stevington

(i)    From the end of the existing 30mph speed limit (approx. 305m metres southeast of the centre of Windmill Lane), for a distance of approx. 400 metres in a south-easterly direction.

Date of Operation: This Order will come into force on 27th December 2023 or as soon as practicable after this date.

A copy of the Order may be viewed at www.bedford.gov.uk/implementedtro. High Court Challenge: Any person who desires to question the validity of this Order or any provision contained therein on the grounds that it is not within the powers conferred by the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 or on the grounds that any requirement of that Act has not been complied with in relation to the Order may, within six weeks of the date of this Notice, make application for that purpose to the High Court.

BEDFORD BOROUGH COUNCIL PROPOSE TO REDUCE SPEED LIMITS ON SOME ROADS IN BOLNHURST AND KEYSOE

Reason for Proposal:

Bedford Borough Council has received a request from Bolnhurst & Keysoe Parish Council to extend the existing 30mph speed limits on the B660 Kimbolton Road, Bolnhurst and Pertenhall Road, Keysoe.

The Parish Council have also requested that a section of the existing 60mph speed limit in Kimbolton Road at Bolnhurst be reduced to 40mph to act as a “buffer zone”, so that drivers can decelerate in a staggered fashion from 60mph to 40mph in advance of the 30mph speed limit.

These proposed reduced speed limits are intended to help provide a safer road network for all highway users, including motor cyclists, pedal cyclists and pedestrians.

Effect of the Order:

1. To introduce a 30mph speed limit on the following lengths of roads:        

A  B660 Kimbolton Road, Bolnhurst

(i)    From the end of the existing 30mph speed limit (approx. 76.5m metres north  of the centre of School Lane), for a distance of approx. 417 metres in a  north-easterly and then north-westerly direction.

B     B660 Pertenhall Road, Keysoe

(i)    From the end of the existing 30mph speed limit (approx. 400m metres  north-east of the centre of Riseley Road), for a distance of approx. 497 metres in a north-easterly direction.

2. To introduce a 40mph speed limit on the following length of road:

A    B660 Kimbolton Road, Bolnhurst

(i)    From the end of the proposed new 30mph speed limit (approx. 493.5m metres north-east and then north-west of the centre of School Lane), for a distance of approx. 400 metres in a north-easterly and then northerly direction.

Notice of Confirmation of a Modification Order Section 53 of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 Bedford Borough Council Definitive Map and Statement for the Former North Bedfordshire Borough

BEDFORD BOROUGH COUNCIL  (DEFINITIVE MAP AND STATEMENT FOR THE  FORMER NORTH BEDFORDSHIRE BOROUGH) (FORMER EXCLUDED AREA OF BEDFORD: PUBLIC FOOTPATH No. E48)  MODIFICATION ORDER 2023

On 07 December 2023, Bedford Borough Council confirmed without modification the abovementioned order made under section 53(2)(b) of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981. The effect of the order as confirmed is to modify the Definitive Map and Statement for the area by adding a length of Public Footpath in Bedford to be numbered E48 in the Definitive Statement that commences where it has a junction with that part of the public road known as “York Street” in Bedford over the alleyway between the residential properties known as 27 and 29 York Street at Ordnance Survey Grid Reference (OSGR) TL 0607/4981 then running in a generally east-north-east direction for approximately 45 metres to OSGR TL 0611/4982, then continuing in an east-north-east direction from OSGR TL 0612/4982 over the alleyway between the residential properties known as 31 and 33 Denmark Street for approximately 23 metres to OSGR TL 0615/4983 then running in an east-north-east direction for approximately 22 m to Point E at OSGR 0617/4983, then continuing over the alleyway between the residential properties known as 43 and 45 Dudley Street  Bedford at (OSGR) TL 0618/4984 for approximately 45 metres until the junction with the Public road known as “George Street” in Bedford at OSGR TL 0623/4985.

Notice of Confirmation of Public Path Order Highways Act 1980 Bedford Borough Council

BEDFORD BOROUGH COUNCIL (BEDFORD (FORMER EXCLUDED AREA): PUBLIC RIGHT OF WAY ON FOOT BETWEEN MAITLAND STREET AND COSTIN STREET)  PUBLIC PATH EXTINGUISHMENT ORDER 2020

On 18 December 2023 the Secretary of State confirmed the above Order made under Section 118 of the Highways Act 1980.

The effect of the Order as confirmed is to extinguish a Public Footpath in the former excluded area of Bedford Town commencing from a point where it has a junction with the eastern margin of publicly maintained road, Western Street, Bedford, between numbers 7 and 13 Western Street at Ordnance Survey Grid Reference (OSGR) TL 0458/4958 then running in a generally east north-easterly direction for approximately 35 metres to the point where it has a junction with the western margin of publicly maintained road, Battison Street, Bedford, between numbers 6 and 8, Battison Street, Bedford at OSGR TL 0462/4960.
