(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF ALL TRAFFIC) ORDER 2024
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable Galliford Try to carry works to install a culvert as part of ongoing construction works related to the Carlisle Southern Link Road ("the Works"), Cumberland Council intends to make an Order the effect of which is to prohibit all traffic (i.e. vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists) from proceeding along that section of the U1161 Peter Lane, Carlisle, from its junction with the A595 Newby West Roundabout, extending in a south westerly direction for approx. 600m to a point approx. 300m from its junction with the B5299 Dalston Road.
A suitable alternative route for vehicles will be signed and available via the unrestricted section of Peter, Lane, Dalston Road, B5299, Shaddongate, Bridge Street, Church Street, Wigton Road and the A595.
Nothing in the Order to which this notice relates shall:
1. Apply to anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform; and
2. Apply to personnel and vehicles being used in connection with the Works.

The Order will come into operation on 29 January 2024 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restriction will be required for approx. 4 weeks, and only as and when the appropriate traffic signs are displayed.
