What is happening?

Sunderland City Council gives notice that it intends to make two Orders under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which is to temporarily prohibit all vehicular, horse, pedestrian and cycle traffic from those roads, footways and associated footpaths listed in the schedules. The Orders are required to allow the excavation and installation of fibre media cables. The orders will come into force on 12th February 2024. The maximum duration of the closures under the Orders will be six months, it is estimated that the works will take six months. However, it is anticipated that each section of road, footway or footpath will be closed on just one occasion and for approximately two days. During the closures all vehicles, pedestrians, horses and cycles will be prohibited from the roads and footways detailed in the Schedules and from any footpath connecting to those roads and footways listed in the Schedules (except for vehicles and personnel involved in the works), until the works are completed or at such times and to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the display of traffic signs. The closures will be for the full extent of the roads. An alternative route will be provided and pedestrian access to properties will be maintained throughout. Schedules
