Castle Road - Pedestrian And Cycle Zone, One-Way Traffic And Amendments To Waiting Restrictions

What is happening?

THE PORTSMOUTH CITY COUNCIL (CASTLE ROAD) (PEDESTRIAN AND CYCLE ZONE, ONE-WAY TRAFFIC AND AMENDMENTS TO WAITING RESTRICTIONS) (NO. 120) ORDER 2021


1. Notice is hereby given that on 9 January 2024 Portsmouth City Council has made the above Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The effect of the Order will be to:
a.
Introduce a “prohibition of motor vehicles, except for loading between 6am and 11am and for access” restriction on Castle Road between a point 2 metres north of its junction with Regent Place and a point 35 metres south of its junction with Hambrook Street;
b.
Introduce a “prohibition of motor vehicles except for access” restriction on Castle Road between 15 and 35 metres south of its junction with Hambrook Street;
c.
Introduce a “one way except cycles” restriction on Castle Road between a point 2 metres north of its junction with Regent Place and a point 35 metres south of its junction with Hambrook Street; and
d.
Introduce a “loading only” restriction on Hambrook Street south side from a point 11 metres west of its junction with Castle Road in a westerly direction for a distance of 8 metres (in place of parking for 2 hours, KB permit holders exempt).
2. Copies of the Order, Statement of Reasons and Map are available to view on Portsmouth City Council’s website: Search 'Traffic Regulation Orders 2024" at www.portsmouth.gov.uk. Alternatively, they can be viewed at the Civic Offices, Guildhall Square, PO1 2AL, Monday to Friday between 9am - 4pm. Printed copies can be obtained by calling 023 9268 8501.
3. Any person wishing to question the validity of the Order or any of its provisions, on the grounds that it is not within the powers of the relevant enabling Act, or that a requirement of any such enabling Act or of any relevant regulations made thereunder has not been complied with, may, within 6 weeks from the date of the Order, make application for this purpose to the High Court.
4. This Order comes into operation on 12 January 2024
