NOTICE OF TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDERS 2024
Notice is hereby given that North Somerset Council in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, intend to make an order the effect of which:
Long Lane, Wrington North Somerset
Temporary Prohibition of Use by Vehicles and Cyclists
Date coming into force: 5 February 2024 - Ref: T23-80
Will be to close, temporarily, to vehicles and cyclists the lengths of roads specified in the Schedule to this Notice. The maximum period for the closures is 18 months, however the closures may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only as necessitated by the works.
This order is required because of carriageway patching and general maintenance works and will become operative on 5 February 2024, anticipated to be of 7 days in duration between 8am and 5pm.
Schedule - Long Lane from the junction with School Road, Wrington to the junction of Church Road, Redhill.
Alternative routes - Redhill, Havyatt Road, Cox's Green, Silver Street, High Street, School Road and vice versa.
Down Road, Portishead, North Somerset
Temporary Prohibition of Use by Vehicles and Cyclists
Date coming into force: 12 February 2024 - Ref: T23-81
Will be to close, temporarily, to vehicles and cyclists the lengths of roads specified in the Schedule to this Notice. The maximum period for the closures is 18 months, however, the closures may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only as necessitated by the works.
This order is required because of carriageway reconstruction and patching works and will become operative on 12 February 2024, anticipated to be of 3 days in duration between 8am and 5pm.
Schedule - Down Road between the junction of Downleaze and the junction of Mendip Road.
Alternative routes -Down Road (part unaffected), West Hill, Nore Road and vice versa.
Bristol Road, Butcombe, North Somerset
Temporary Prohibition of Use by Vehicles Order 2024
Date coming into force: 29 February 2024 - Ref: SW23.24-288
Will be to close, temporarily, to vehicles the lengths of roads specified in the Schedule to this Notice. Exemptions are included for emergency services, works access, works vehicles, and as works permit for premises which may only be accessed via the closed section of road.
This order is required because of the likelihood of danger to the public consequent upon work by Openreach to replace two poles. This will become operative on the 29 February 2024 for a maximum period of 18 months. However, the closures may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only as necessitated by the works which is anticipated to be of 2 days in duration. Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed when the measures are in force.

Temporary Prohibition of Use by Vehicles Order 2024
Date coming into force: 19 February 2024 - Ref: SW23.24-334
Will be to close, temporarily, to vehicles the lengths of roads specified in the Schedule to this Notice. Exemptions are included for emergency services, works access, works vehicles, and as works permit for premises which may only be accessed via the closed section of road.
This order is required because of the likelihood of danger to the public consequent upon work by Avtar Construction Ltd to install new drainage and utility connections. This will become operative on the 19 February 2024 for a maximum period of 18 months. However, the closures may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only as necessitated by the works which is anticipated to be of 19 days in duration. Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed when the measures are in force.

Temporary Prohibition of Use by Vehicles Order 2024
Date coming into force: 6 March 2024 - Ref: SW23.24-293
Will be to close, temporarily, to vehicles the lengths of roads specified in the Schedule to this Notice. Exemptions are included for emergency services, works access, works vehicles, and as works permit for premises which may only be accessed via the closed section of road.
This order is required because of the likelihood of danger to the public consequent upon work by National Grid to replace poles and overhead works. This will become operative on the 6 March 2024 for a maximum period of 18 months. However, the closures may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only as necessitated by the works which is anticipated to be of 1 day in duration between 9am and 5pm. Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed when the measures are in force.

Date coming into force: 26 February 2024 - Ref: SW23.24-320
Will be to close, temporarily, to vehicles the lengths of roads specified in the Schedule to this Notice. Exemptions are included for emergency services, works access, works vehicles, and as works permit for premises which may only be accessed via the closed section of road.
This order is required because of the likelihood of danger to the public consequent upon work by Bristol Water to install new fire hydrant. This will become operative on the 26 February 2024 for a maximum period of 18 months. However, the closures may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only as necessitated by the works which is anticipated to be of 5 days in duration. Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed when the measures are in force.

This will become operative on the 4 March 2024 for a maximum period of 18 months. However, the closures may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only as necessitated by the works which is anticipated to be of 5 days in duration. Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed when the measures are in force.

This will become operative on the 4 March 2024 for a maximum period of 18 months. However, the closures may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only as necessitated by the works which is anticipated to be of 1 day in duration between 9.30am and 3pm. Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed when the measures are in force.

This order was required because of the likelihood of danger to the public consequent upon work by Wessex Water for root clearance and reline sewer. This will become operative on the 23 January 2024 for a maximum period of 18 months. However, the closures may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only as necessitated by the works which is anticipated to be of 2 days in duration. Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed when the measures are in force.

40mph Speed Limit Order 2024 - Reference: BB/BC/MM/2024
Notice is hereby given that North Somerset Council (hereinafter referred to as 'the Council') in exercise of its powers under section 84 to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended (hereinafter referred to as "the Act of 1984"), in accordance with Part III of Schedule 9 to the Act and of all other enabling powers, propose to make an order. The general effect of the order shall be to: (1) Introduce a 40 mph Speed Limit, on the lengths of the road specified in the Schedule 1 to this notice. Full details of the proposals are contained in the draft Order which together with the plan, Statement of the Council's Reasons for proposing to make the Order may be inspected at the following locations: Nailsea Library, Crown Glass Shopping Centre, 6-8 Colliers Walk, Nailsea BS48 1RH (during normal opening hours) or online at www.n-somerset.gov.uk/notices
Should you wish to make any observations on this proposal (whether you support or object to the proposal) you should make them in writing to Darren Gilbert, Place, North Somerset Council, Town Hall, Weston-super-Mare BS23 1UJ or email traffic.orders@n-somerset.gov.uk quoting reference BB/BC/MM/2024 by 5pm on 2 February 2024. Any objections must specify the grounds on which they are made. All representations received may be considered in public by the council and that the substance of any representation together with the name and address of the person making it could become available for public inspection.
Schedule 1 - Lengths of road within the 40 mph Speed Limit - Backwell Bow from its junction with Lodge Lane in a southerly direction to a point 40m north of its junction with Chapel Hill. Backwell Common from its junction with Backwell Bow in a south westerly direction to a point 380m northeast of its junction with Station Road.
