A20 TRUNK ROAD (COURTWOOD INTERCHANGE
TO LIMEKILN ROUNDABOUT)
TEMPORARY TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS

Notice is hereby given that National Highways Limited has made an Order on the A20 Trunk Road in the County of Kent, under Section 14(1)(a) of the
Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 because works are proposed to be executed on the road.

The effect of the Order is to:-

1. authorise the overnight closure of both carriageways of the A20 between Courtwood Interchange (B2011) and Limekiln Roundabout, and all slip roads leading to and from this length of carriageway, including those at Samphire Hoe;

2. authorise the 24-hour closure of the lay-by adjacent to the London-bound carriageway of the A20 between Limekiln Roundabout and
Courtwood Interchange;

3. impose a 24-hour 50mph speed restriction on the coastbound carriageway of the A20 between Courtwood Interchange (B2011) and a point 476
metres west of its junction with Western Heights Roundabout (the point at which the 40mph speed limit starts);

4. impose a 24-hour 50mph speed restriction on the London-bound carriageway of the A20 between a point 20 metres west of the exit from Western Heights Roundabout (the point at which the 40mph stops) and Courtwood Interchange (B2011); and

5. impose a 24-hour 2.75 metre width restriction in lane 2 on the coastbound carriageway of the A20 between Courtwood Interchange (B2011) and
Western Heights Roundabout.

These measures are in the interests of road safety while contractors undertake barrier replacement and all associated works.

It is expected that the work will last for approximately 3 months starting on or after Monday 22nd January 2024. Overnight closures will take place between
20:00 and 06:00 (maximum period).

The Order will come into force on 20th January 2024 and have a maximum duration of eighteen months, ceasing when the works are complete.
Traffic affected by the closures will be diverted using the A256 and the B2011.

Access to properties within the closure will be permitted. The temporary closures, diversions, speed restrictions and narrow lanes will be clearly  indicated by traffic signs when it is in operation during the works period.
