What is happening?

WAKEFIELD COUNCIL
HIGHWAYS ACT 1980
RAISED SPEED CUSHIONS – BARNES ROAD, CASTLEFORD

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that The Council of the City of Wakefield, in exercise of powers conferred by Section 90A of the Highways Act 1980, propose to introduce traffic calming measures along Barnes Road, Castleford.

These proposals are part of the Local Transport Plan initiative to improve road safety for all road users in this area and include speed cushion installation at the following locations along Barnes Road, Castleford – between Leeds Road and Love Lane:

i.   Full width plateau adject to no. 51. (Speed table).

ii.  Outside no. 47 (speed cushion).

iii.  Between no 27 and 29 (speed cushion).

iv.  Outside no. 17. (speed cushion).

v.  Between no. 9 and 11. (speed cushion).

The speed cushions will be elevated sections of carriageway, 3.5 metres in length and 1.3 metres wide with a maximum height of 65mm above the existing carriageway level.

The speed table will be elevated sections of carriageway, 4.75 metres wide (featuring a 4.5 – metre-long plateau with 0.9 metre long approach ramps) with a maximum height of 75mm above the existing carriageway level.
