What is happening?

LANCASHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL
(ALDCLIFFE ROAD, LANCASTER, LANCASTER CITY)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC)(No.3) ORDER 2023

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Lancashire County Council have made an Order under Section 14(1) (a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, the effect of which will be to temporarily prohibit traffic on the roads set out in this notice.
1. No person shall cause any motor vehicle to proceed over that length of Aldcliffe Road for a distance of 20 metres either side of the rail bridge.
2. Nothing in this order shall apply to persons engaged in the carrying out of the works.
3. The prohibition will be operative from 0900 hours until 1500 hours Tuesday 9th January 2024 or until completion of the works within this period.
4. An alternative route for vehicular traffic affected by the closure is one way via:-
Aldcliffe Road – A6 Penny Street – A6 King Street –Spring Garden Street – George Street - – A6 Dalton Square – A6 Thurnham Street – A6 South Road – A588 Ashton Road – Lunecliffe Road – Aldcliffe Road
The temporary prohibition is necessary to allow rail bridge examination works to be carried out.
