What is happening?

Highways

Kent County Council, acting in exercise of its powers under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, makes or intends to make the following Orders.

CANTERBURY AREA

B2205 SEA STREET, WHITSTABLE (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER JANUARY 2024

To allow manhole works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on B2205 Sea Street, Whitstable, from 22nd January 2024, with estimated completion by 26th January 2024, or until the works have been completed.

The following restrictions will be in place, as detailed below:-

B2205 Sea Street will be closed in the vicinity of number 19, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

There will be no access for through traffic between the junctions with Red Lion Lane and Leggett’s Lane.

• The alternative route for through traffic is via Harbour Street.

• The One-way Traffic Order in respect of Sea Street will be temporarily suspended from either direction up to the point of the closure, to allow for access only.

• There will be a No Right Turn restriction in place during the closure, restricting traffic from turning into Harbour Street from Sea Street.

B2205 Harbour Street will be closed to westbound traffic from the western entrance to The Harbour to the junction with High Street, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

• There will be no access to westbound through traffic between the junctions with Cromwell Road and The High Street. Access will be maintained up to the Harbour.

• The alternative route for through traffic is via Cromwell Road, Oxford Street and High Street.

• Harbour Street will become one-way northbound from High Street towards The Harbour.

• The One-way Traffic Order in respect of Harbour Street will be reversed between the junctions with Woodlawn Street and High Street, to enable traffic to flow northbound

• The bus stops will be moved to the west side of Harbour Street, with some limited parking allowed on the east side.

B2205 High Street will be closed to southbound traffic from the junction with Terrys Lane, southwards for approximately 20 metres, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

• There will be a No Right Turn restriction in place during the closure, restricting traffic from Horsebridge Road and Terrys Lane from turning right into High Street.

• The alternative route for through traffic will be via Harbour Street, Cromwell Road, Oxford Street and High Street.

Cromwell Road will be closed to eastbound traffic at the junction with B2205 Oxford Street.

• There will be no access into Cromwell Road from Oxford Street.

• The alternative route for through traffic is via Oxford Street, High Street and Harbour Street.

The One-way Traffic Order in respect of Horsebridge Road will be temporarily suspended between the junctions with Red Lion Lane and Terrys Lane, to allow for essential access/exit.

There will be a No Right Turn restriction temporarily in place on Red Lion Lane, restricting traffic from turning right onto Harbour Street.

No Left Turn restrictions will be imposed on Victoria Street, Albert Street and Woodlawn Street, prohibiting traffic from turning left onto Harbour Street.

Due to the nature of the works, all restrictions will need to remain in force outside the normal working hours.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

COTTON ROAD & COW LANE, CANTERBURY. (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING & PROHIBITION OF PARKING) TEMPORARY ORDER JANUARY 2024

To allow gas main replacement works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on parts of Cotton Road & Cow Lane, Canterbury.

Cotton Road will be closed from 22nd January 2024, with estimated completion by 1st March 2024, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed in a northeast bound direction only from the junction with Cow Lane to outside Invicta Tools & Fixings, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

Cow Lane will be closed from 12th February 2024, with estimated completion by 8th March 2024, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed in a north bound direction only from the junction with Simmons Road to the junction with Cotton Road , to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

Parking will be prohibited in Cotton Road and Cow Lane for the duration of the works.

The alternative route for any through traffic:-

For Cotton Road is Cow Lane, Maynard Road and Jackson Road.

For Cow Lane is Simmons Road, Cushman Road, Maynard Road, Jackson Road and Cotton Road.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

HARDRES COURT ROAD, UPPER HARDRES, CT4 6EA (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER JANUARY 2024

To allow new connection works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Hardres Court Road, Upper Hardres, on or after 8th January 2024, for up to 3 days, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed in the vicinity of Herfield, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route is via Hardres Court Road, The Street, Bossingham Road, Curtis Lane, Stone Street, Street End, Hardres Court Road and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

HEADCORN DRIVE, CANTERBURY, CT2 7DS (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER JANUARY 2024

To allow reinstatement works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Headcorn Drive, Canterbury, on or after 24th January 2024, for up to 3 days, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed in the vicinity of number 2, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route is via Headcorn Drive, Farleigh Road, Long Meadow Way, Bawden Close and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

HOSPITAL LANE, CANTERBURY. CT1 2NT (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER JANUARY 2024

To allow replacement works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Hospital Lane, Canterbury, on or after 8th January 2024, for up to 3 days, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed in the vicinity of number 9, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route is via Stour Street, Rosemary Lane, Castle Street, Hospital Lane and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

LINDEN AVENUE, WHITSTABLE. CT5 1RR (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER JANUARY 2024

To allow repair works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Linden Avenue, Whitstable, on or after 8th January 2024, for up to 5 days, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed in the vicinity of number 13, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route is via Douglas Avenue, Old Bridge Road, Seymour Avenue and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

NORTH STREAM, MARSHSIDE. CT3 4EN (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER JANUARY 2024

To allow pole testing works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of North Stream, Marshside, on or after 9th January 2024, for up to 2 days, between the hours of 09.30 and 15.30, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed from Reynolds Lane, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route:-

Westbound is via North Stream, A299 Thanet Way, Heart In Hand Road, Ford Hill, Highstead and Boyden Gate Hill.

Eastbound is via Boyden Gate Hill, Highstead, Ford Hill, Heart In Hand Road, May Street, Sweechbridge Road, A299 Thanet Way and Brook Lane.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

OWLS HATCH ROAD (NORTH), GREENHILL. (SUSPENSION OF PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER JANUARY 2024

To allow Section 278 works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order to temporarily suspend the Prohibition of Driving Order that came into force on 25th August 2003 for the duration of the works to accommodate a new site access on part of Owls Hatch Road (North), Greenhill, on or after 22nd January 2024, with estimated completion by 22nd July 2025, or until the works have been completed.

The introduction of a Temporary Prohibition of Driving Order on Owls Hatch Road (North), Greenhill will be in force from 95 metres along Owls Hatch Road from the junction with Bullockstone Road, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

ROSE LANE, CANTERBURY, CT1 2TG (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER JANUARY 2024

To allow installation works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Rose Lane, Canterbury, for up to one day, between the hours of 15.00 and 21.00, on two Sundays - 28th January 2024 and 11th February 2024, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed in the vicinity of Tesco Metro, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic:-

Northeast bound is via Watling Street, A28 Upper Bridge Street, Lower Bridge Street, Burgate, Sun Street, Orange Street, The Friars, St Peters Street, High Street, Parade and Rose Lane.

Southwest Bound is via St Peters Street, St Peter’s Place, A2050 Rheims Way, A28 Pin Hill, Rhodaus Town and Watling Street.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

ROUGH COMMON ROAD, ROUGH COMMON, CT2 9DJ (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER JANUARY 2024

To allow cabling works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Rough Common Road, Rough Common, on or after 8th January 2024, for up to one day, between the hours of 09.30 and 15.30, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed in the vicinity of number 28, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route is via A290 Whitstable Road, St Thomas Hill, Whitstable Road, London Road, London Road Roundabout, A2050 Harbledown Bypass, Palmars Cross Hill and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

SAVERNAKE DRIVE, HERNE. CT6 7UB (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER JANUARY 2024

To allow installation works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Savernake Drive, Herne, on or after 8th January 2024, for up to 5 days, between the hours of 09.30 and 15.30, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed from the junction with Epping Close, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route is via Rockingham Place, Hawe Farm Way and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

SEA STREET, SUNNYHILL ROAD & BEAUMONT STREET, HERNE BAY. (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER JANUARY 2024

To allow repair works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Sea Street, Sunnyhill Road & Beaumont Street, Herne Bay, on or after 28th January 2024, with estimated completion by 2nd February 2024, between the hours of 20.00 and 06.00, or until the works have been completed.

Sea Street will be closed in the vicinity of 196 Sea Street, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

Sunnyhill Road will be closed from the junction with Sea Street, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

Beaumont Street will be closed from the junction with Sea Street, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic:-

Sea Street

Westbound (for vehicles under 4.0m) is via Sea Street, Greenhill Bridge Road, A2990 Thanet Way, Chestfield Road, St John’s Road, Colewood Road and Whitstable Road.

Westbound (for vehicles over 4.0m) is via Sea Street, Greenhill Bridge Road, A2990 Thanet Way, Borstal Hill, Canterbury Road, Oxford Street, High Street, Horsebridge Road, Sea Street, Harbour Street, Tower Parade, Tankerton Road, Tankerton Circus, Tankerton Road, Bennells Avenue, Herne Bay Road, St John’s Road, Colewood Road and Whitstable Road.

Eastbound is via Sea Street, Hampton Pier Avenue, Western Esplanade, Grand Drive and Sea Street.

Sunnyhill Road

Eastbound is via Sunnyhill Road, Clarendon Street and Claremont Street.

Westbound is via Sunnyhill Road, Grand Drive, West Cliff Drive, Hampton Pier Avenue and Sea Street.

Beaumont Street

Eastbound is via Beaumont Street, Clarendon Street, Claremont Street and Sea Street.

Westbound is via Beaumont Street, Clarendon Street, Sunnyhill Road, Grand Drive, West Cliff Drive, Hampton Pier Avenue and Sea Street.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

SEATON ROAD, ICKHAM, CT3 1SL (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER JANUARY 2024

To allow pole testing works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Seaton Road, Ickham, on or after 9th January 2024, for up to one day, between the hours of 09.30 and 15.30, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed in the vicinity of Seatonden, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route is via Baye Lane, Wingham Lane, The Street, Wickham Lane, Wickham Road, The Street and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

ST GEORGES LANE, CANTERBURY. CT1 2NA (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER JANUARY 2024

To allow maintenance works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of St Georges Lane, Canterbury, from 22.00 hours on 8th January 2024, with estimated completion by 06.00 hours on 9th January 2024, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed in the vicinity of Whitefriars, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route is via Watling Street, A28 Upper Bridge Street, St George’s Roundabout, Lower Bridge Street, Burgate, Canterbury Lane and St George’s Street.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

ST GEORGES TERRACE, HERNE BAY. (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER JANUARY 2024

To allow crane operation works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of St George’s Terrace, Herne Bay, on or after 9th January 2024, with estimated completion by 9th January 2025, or until the works have been completed.

The road will not be closed for the whole of this time, amendments with specific dates will be sent out in due course.

The road will be closed between the junctions of Lane End and Oxenden Street, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for Eastbound traffic is via Lane End, Central Parade, Station Road, and St George’s Terrace.

The alternative route for Westbound traffic is via Oxenden Street and B2205 Avenue Road.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

ST STEPHEN’S GREEN, CANTERBURY, CT2 7FQ (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER JANUARY 2024

To allow maintenance works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of St Stephen’s Green, Canterbury, from 20.00 hours on 22nd January 2024, with estimated completion by 06.00 hours on 23rd January 2024, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed from the junction with St Stephen’s Hill to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

These works will be in conjunction with 2 way traffic lights on St Stephen’s Hill, Canterbury.

The alternative route is via St Stephen’s Green, St Stephen’s Hill and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

STODMARSH ROAD, CANTERBURY, CT2 0DR (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER JANUARY 2024

To allow pole testing works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Stodmarsh Road, Canterbury, on or after 22nd January 2024, for up to one day, between the hours of 09.30 and 15.30, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed in the vicinity of Gowan, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route:-

For any through traffic under 6’ 6” wide is via Stodmarsh Road, A257 Littlebourne Road, St Martin’s Hill, Longport, Lower Chantry Lane, St George’s Place, A28 Lower Bridge Street, Broad Street, Military Road, Tourtel Road, Sturry Road, Water Lane, Fordwich Road, King Street, High Street, Moat Lane and vice versa.

Due to the width restriction on Fordwich Road, the alternative route for through traffic wider than 6’6” is via A257 Littlebourne Road, Canterbury Road, The Hill, Jubilee Road, Court Hill, Eldridge Hill, Stodmarsh Road and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

THE STREET, ADISHAM, CT3 3LF (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER JANUARY 2024

To allow new connection works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of The Street, Adisham, on or after 22nd January 2024, for up to one day, between the hours of 09.30 and 15.30, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed in the vicinity of number 103, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route is via The Street, Woodlands Road, Woodlands Lane, Poor Start Lane, Bramling Road, Adisham Downs Road, Pond Hill, The Street and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

YORK ROAD, CANTERBURY. CT1 3QU (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER JANUARY 2024

To allow dropped kerb works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of York Road, Canterbury, on or after 8th January 2024, for up to 2 days, between the hours of 09.30 and 15.30, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed between the junctions of Ivy Place and Grove Terrace, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route is via Grove Terrace, Tudor Road, Claremont Place, York Road and vice versa.Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
