A38 Trunk Road - Prohibition Of Traffic For Junction Upgrade Works

What is happening?

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 - SECTIONS 14(1)(a) and (7)
THE A38 TRUNK ROAD (BRANSTON, STAFFORDSHIRE)
(TEMPORARY RESTRICTION AND PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2024

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that National Highways Limited (Company No. 9346363) intends to make an Order on the A38, at Branston, in the County of Staffordshire, to allow junction upgrade works to be carried out by the local authority.

The effect of the Order will be to –

(1) impose a speed limit of 40 miles per hour on –

(a) the northbound carriageway of the A38 from a point 1 kilometre southwest of the centreline of the southern overbridge of the roundabout junction of Branston Road, Parkway and the A38 slip roads (Branston Interchange), to the centreline of that overbridge; and

(b) the southbound carriageway of the A38 from a point 1.25 kilometres northeast of the centreline of the southern overbridge of Branston Interchange, to the centreline of that overbridge; and

(2) close any slip road leading to or from the A38, to or from Branston Interchange.

The works will be carried out in phases and are expected to start on Friday 26 January 2024 and continue for approximately fourteen months. The closures will be in operation overnight only between 20:00 hours and 05:00 hours. The speed restriction will be in operation for twenty-four hours per day, for the duration of the work. The Order will come into force on 19 January 2024.

Vehicles being used for police, fire and rescue authority and ambulance purposes will be exempt from the speed restriction and closures. Vehicles being used for special forces purposes will be exempt from the speed restriction. Vehicles being used in connection with the works or for winter maintenance purposes will be exempt from the closures.

Diversion routes via alternative junctions of the A38 will be signed.
