What is happening?

THE SURREY COUNTY COUNCIL

Bagshot Road (A319) Chobham Temporary Speed Limit Order 2024

Surrey County Council propose to make the above-mentioned Temporary Order under Section 14(1) and 14(7) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to (a) prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in that length of Bagshot Road (A319) Chobham as extends from its junction with the access to the property known as “Grinko Garden Nursery” to its junction with the access to the property known as “Cedars” at a speed greater than 30 miles per hour; and (b) suspend “The Surrey County Council Borough of Surrey Heath (A319 Bagshot Road and A322 Guildford Road, West End) (40MPH Speed Limit) Order 2004” insofar as it affects that length of road specified and described in part (a) to this Notice. The Order is required to allow water connection works to be carried out by, or on behalf of Affinity Water within the length of road described in this notice. These works are anticipated to be carried out as soon as possible over 1 Night between the hours of 6pm and 5am within the 12-month period of operation of the Temporary Order that commences on 24 January 2024. Advanced warning signs will be displayed, and the temporary closure will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. The temporary speed limit imposed by this Order shall not apply to vehicles used by special forces in accordance with the Road Traffic Exemptions (Special Forces) (Variation and Amendment) Regulations 2011 or in respect of anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform or in accordance with any restriction or requirement indicated by traffic signs placed on the highway by or on behalf of the Police.
