Tyne Bridge - Prohibition Of Traffic For Works

What is happening?

CITY OF NEWCASTLE UPON TYNE
(A167 TYNE BRIDGE) TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDER 2024

1. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Council of the City of Newcastle upon Tyne intend, not less than seven days from the date of this Notice, to make an Order under Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to prohibit all traffic (vehicles, pedestrians and other traffic) from proceeding on-

(a) City Road on slip,
(b) Heath Court between City Road (the on-slip of the Tyne Bridge) and the access road (Pilgrim Street) to the Spire Building,
(c) A167 Tyne Bridge northbound, and
(d) A167 Tyne Bridge northbound and southbound

2. Appropriate traffic management will be in place during the closures.

3. The Order is required to allow works to be carried out on or near the highway.

4. Exemptions will be provided for vehicles and persons engaged in the works and police, fire brigade and ambulance vehicles and personnel on emergency call.

5. The Order will come into operation on 15th January 2024 and will continue, as and when the relevant traffic signs are displayed until 18th March 2024.

It is anticipated that the closures will only be required as follows:

(a) City Road on slip and Heath Court - “15th January to 19th January 2024, “22nd January to 23rd January 2024 and 18th March 2024,
(b) A167 Tyne Bridge northbound overnight closures from 22nd to 24th January 2024 between 20.00 hours and 06.00 hours,
(c) A167 Tyne Bridge northbound and southbound overnight closures from 17th to 18th March 2024 between 20.00 hours and 06.00 hours.
