Stanhope Road - Temporary Road Closure

Portsmouth City Council (City Centre South) (Temporary Road Closure) (Temporary Prohibition of Loading and Waiting) (No.6) Order 2024

Notice is hereby given that Portsmouth City Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended by the Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991.
The Order comes into operation from 8th January 2024 and the effect will be as follows:
A) TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE AND PROHIBITION OF LOADING AND WAITING EXCEPT FOR BUSES AND CYCLES, ACCESS TO CATHEDRAL, CASCADES SERVICE AREA, TAXIS (INCLUDING PRIVATE HIRE), DELIVERY AND DROP OFF ACCESS
UNICORN ROAD (SOUTHBOUND)
From its junction with Marketway to its junction with Edinburgh Road.
B) TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE AND PROHIBITION OF LOADING AND WAITING
STANHOPE ROAD

From its junction with Willis Road to its junction with Commercial Road.
Southbound from its junction with Willis Road (north) to its junction with Willis Road (south).
C) TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF LOADING AND WAITING (EXCEPT FOR MARKED LOADING BAYS)

D) TEMPORARY SUSPENSION OF BUS LANE RESTRICTION FOR PRIVATE HIRE TAXIS (IN ADDITION TO BUSES, CYCLES, TAXIS AND DELIVERY ACCESS)

From its junction with Commercial Road to its junction with Surrey Street.
H) TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE AND PROHIBITION OF LOADING AND WAITING
ISAMBARD BRUNEL ROAD

I) TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE AND PROHIBITION OF LOADING AND WAITING
EDINBURGH ROAD

COMMERCIAL ROAD
From its junction with Edinburgh Road to its junction with Station Street.
J) REASON FOR THE ORDER
To facilitate carriageway widening of Isambard Brunel Road and construction of signalised pedestrian crossing at the junction of Commercial Road and Station Street.
K) DURATION OF THE ORDER
From 8th January 2024 to 31st May 2024 or completion of the works, whichever is sooner.
Works will be carried out in sections. Each works will be notified by the placement of advance notice signs and letters to affected residents and businesses.
The restrictions detailed in Sections A, B, C and D will be in place for the full duration of the order from 8th January 2024 to 31st May 2024 (except Section B on the northbound carriageway when closures in Section G are in place).
The restrictions detailed in Sections E and F will be in place as notified by the placement of advance notice signs and letters to affected residents and businesses.
Notwithstanding the above, full closures will take place as detailed in Sections G, H and I for all traffic for overnight works and over two weekends, as notified by advance notice signs and communications to affected residents and businesses.
L) DIVERSION
Vehicles will be diverted from:
Stanhope Road - Alfred Road, Anglesea Road, St Michael's Road, Winston Churchill Avenue, Isambard Brunel Road, Commercial Road.
Station Street - Stanhope Road, Unicorn Road, Alfred Road, Market Way, Hope Street Roundabout, Market Way Roundabout, Commercial Road, Cornmill Street, Cornmill Street Roundabout, Lake Road, Lake Road Roundabout, Church Street, Holbrook Road, Arundel Street Roundabout, Arundel Street, Station Street.
Isambard Brunel Road and Commercial Road - Winston Churchill Avenue Roundabout, Winston Churchill Avenue, Bradford Junction Roundabout, Holbrook Road, Carlisle Road, Somers Road North, Arundel Street Roundabout, Arundel Street, Station Street.
Pedestrian and cycle access will be maintained around the works.
