What is happening?
A2 TRUNK ROAD – BRENLEY CORNER TO WHITFIELD ROUNDABOUT
TEMPORARY TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS
Notice is hereby given that National Highways Limited has made an Order on the A2 Trunk Road in the County of Kent, under Section 14(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 because of the likelihood of danger
to the public and of serious damage to the road.
This forms an extension of Temporary Notice NH/2023/E900 (which it thereby replaces) as permitted by The Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions)
Procedure Regulations 1992 (a), Regulation 7.
The effect of the Order is to authorise the 24-hour imposition of a 44-tonne weight restriction on both carriageways of the A2 between Brenley Corner (M2 Junction 7/A299) and Whitfield Roundabout (A256), and all slip roads leading to and from this length of carriageway.
This measure is in the interests of road safety due to bridge works at Patrixbourne, and is expected last into mid-February.
Traffic affected by the restriction may be authorised to use part of the route, otherwise they will use an agreed alternative route.
The Order will come into force on Monday 8th January 2024 and will have a maximum duration of eighteen months.
The temporary weight restriction will be clearly indicated by traffic signs when it is in operation during the danger period.
