Ulverston, Temporary Traffic Restrictions Due To Utility Works

What is happening?

WESTMORLAND AND FURNESS COUNCIL (BACK LANE AND AINSWORTH STREET, ULVERSTON) (TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION) ORDER 2023

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable BT Openreach to carry out utility works ("the Works"), Westmorland and Furness Council has made an Order the effect of which is to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along the following sections of road:

1. Back Lane, Ulverston, from its junction with Town Street, extending in a southerly direction for a distance of approx. 95m.

Alternative Route: via Town Street, Sea View, Church Walk and the unrestricted section of Back Lane.

Duration: From 3rd January 2024 for approx. 1 day (Ref: TTROW/8941)

2. Ainsworth Street, from its junction with Back Lane, extending in an easterly direction for a distance of approx. 45m.

Alternative Route: via the unrestricted section of Ainsworth Street.

Duration: From 3rd January 2024 for approx. 1 day (Ref: TTROW/8941)

Nothing in the Order to which this notice relates shall:

(i) Apply emergency service vehicles, or vehicles being used by statutory undertakers in the performance of their duties; and

(ii) Apply to anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform; and

(iii) Have the effect of preventing at any time access for pedestrians to any premises situated on or adjacent to the roads, or to any other premises accessible for pedestrians from, and only from the roads; and

(iv) Apply to vehicles being used in connection with the Works.

The Order will come into operation on 3rd January 2024 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restrictions will only be required as detailed above, and only as and when the appropriate traffic signs are displayed.
