What is happening?

CUMBERLAND COUNCIL (VARIOUS ROADS IN THE CITY AND DISTRICT OF CARLISLE) (TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION) ORDER 2023

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable Openreach to carry out utility works ("the Works"), Cumberland Council has made an Order the effect of which is to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along the lengths of road specified in the attached Schedule.

Suitable diversion routes will be indicated on site by the display of relevant traffic signs as and when the temporary closures are in force. Phased works will not necessarily be done in numerical order.

A way for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times.

Nothing in the Order to which this notice relates shall:

1. Apply to emergency service vehicles, or vehicles being used by statutory undertakers in the performance of their duties; and

2. Apply to anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform; and

3. Have the effect of preventing at any time access for pedestrians to any premises situated on or adjacent to the roads, or to any other premises accessible for pedestrians from, and only from the road; and

4. Apply to vehicles being used in connection with the Works.

The Order will come into operation on 8 January 2024 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restrictions will only be required for 10 days as stated in the schedule and only as and when the relevant traffic signs are displayed.

EXTENT OF RESTRICTIONS AND ALTERNATIVE ROUTES

1. C1005 Kirklinton - From 8 January 2024 for approx.

Duration 5 days (Ref:TTROC/9227)

From its junction with U1077 to its junction with the A6071.

Alternative Route: via the A6071.

2. U1077 Kirklinton - From 8 January 2024 for approx.

Duration 5 days (Ref:TTROC/9228)

From its junction with the A6071 to its junction with the C1005.

Alternative Route: via the A6071.

3. U1181 Newby East - From 12 January 2024 for approx. duration 1 day (Ref:TTROC/9363)

From a point approx. 950m west of its junction with Little Corby Road, extending in a north westerly direction for approx 950m.

Alternative Route: via the unrestricted sections of the U1181, A689 and the C1013.

4. C2049 Raughton Head - From 17 January 2024 for approx.

Duration 1 day (Ref:TTROC/9395)

From its junction with the U1140 to its junction with the U1218.

Alternative Route: via the unrestricted sections of the C2049, B5299 and the B5305.

5. Beverley Rise, Harraby - From 24 January 2024 for approx.

Duration 1 day (Ref:TTROC/9394)

From a point approx. 65m east of its junction with Pennine Way extending in an easterly direction for approx. 70m.

Alternative Route: via the unrestricted sections of Beverley Rise and Pennine Way.
