What is happening?
ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 - SECTION 14
THE M180 MOTORWAY (JUNCTION 2 TO JUNCTION 3)
(TEMPORARY RESTRICTION AND PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC)
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that National Highways Limited intends to make an Order on the M180 Motorway, in the County of North Lincolnshire, to enable bridge works to be carried out in safety.
The works are expected to start on Monday 15 January 2024 for 6 months, or until completed.
The effect of the Order will be, at times during the works, between 8pm and 6am, Monday to Friday and between 6am and 8pm, Saturday to Sunday, to:
(i) close the M180 westbound carriageway between the exit slip road at Junction 3 to the entry slip road at Junction 2, a distance of 8000 metres;
(ii) close the M180 eastbound carriageway between the exit slip road at Junction 2 to the entry slip road at Junction 3, a distance of 8380 metres;
(iii) close the M180 westbound entry slip road at Junction 3; and
(iv) close the M180 eastbound entry slip road at Junction 2.
During the closures suitably signed alternative routes will be available at all times.
It will also be necessary, for 24 hours a day, to impose a temporary 50mph and 30mph speed restriction on the M180 westbound carriageway between the exit slip road at Junction 3 to the entry slip road at Junction 2, a distance of 8000 metres.
Traffic signs will be in place 24 hours a day and indicate the extent of the restrictions (which will not apply to emergency service vehicles or special forces vehicles) and prohibitions (which will not apply to emergency services vehicles, traffic officer vehicles or vehicles being used in connection with the said works or for winter maintenance purposes). The Order comes into force on 14 January 2024 and has a maximum duration of eighteen months.
The project manager for this scheme is John Stebbing.
