Tyne Bridge, Gateshead - Road Closure to Facilitate Major Structural Works Being Carried Out to Restore and Repair

What is happening?

THE BOROUGH COUNCIL OF GATESHEAD
(TYNE BRIDGE RESTORATION, GATESHEAD)
TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDER 2024
Notice is hereby given that the Borough Council of Gateshead proposes
to make an Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation
Act 1984 the effect of which will be to temporarily prohibit and/or restrict
vehicles, cyclists and pedestrians at various times and locations as
set out in the Schedule below. The Order is required to facilitate major
structural works being carried out to restore and repair the Tyne Bridge.
It is proposed that the Order will come into force on the 15 January 2024.
The Order will be in place until the 01 June 2028 or upon the conclusion
of the works, whichever occurs first. During the works all vehicles, cyclists
and pedestrians (except vehicles and pedestrians associated with the works
and emergency service vehicles on duty) will be prohibited and/or restricted
along the lengths of highway as set out below until the works are completed.
Advance notification of each specific prohibition/restriction will be
communicated at prominent locations by the display of traffic signs and
electronic signal boards. The restrictions will only be in place as and when
required and when traffic management is set out on the highway. During the
works, wherever relevant, there will be a signed diversion in place.
