What is happening?

NATIONAL HIGHWAYS

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 - SECTIONS 4(1),14(1)(a) AND (c), (4) AND (7)

THE A46 TRUNK ROAD AND CONNECTING ROADS (BETWEEN ASHCHURCH AND STONELEIGH AND BETWEEN TOLLBAR AND ANSTY) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2023

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that National Highways Limited (Company No. 09346363) has made an Order on the A46 Trunk Road, in the City of Coventry and the Counties of Warwickshire, Worcestershire and Gloucestershire, to enable maintenance and improvement works, to be carried out in safety.

The works are expected to take place overnight between 19:00 and 06:00 (07:00 on Saturday and Sunday mornings) during a period starting on Tuesday 2 January 2024 and ending on Monday 23 December 2024.

The effect of the Order will be to impose prohibitions on the following lengths of carriageway:

(1)   the A46 northbound from its roundabout junction with the A438 Ashchurch Road and the M5 Junction 9 slip roads (Ashchurch Interchange), at Ashchurch, to its junction with the exit slip road leading to the roundabout junction with the A452 Leamington Road;

(2)   the A46 southbound from its junction with the entry slip road leading from its roundabout junction with the A452 Leamington Road, to Ashchurch Interchange;

(3)   the A46 northbound from its junction with the exit slip road leading to the roundabout junction with the B4110, Rowley Road and the A45 slip roads (Tollbar End), at Willenhall, to its junction with the M69 at Ansty;

(4)   the A46 southbound from its junction with the M69 at Ansty, to its junction with the entry slip road leading from Tollbar End;

(5)   the circulatory carriageway of the roundabout junction with the A429, the A46 and the M40 slip roads, at Longbridge (Longbridge Island);

(6)   the A46 eastbound from its roundabout junction with the B4463 at Sherbourne (Sherbourne Roundabout), to Longbridge Island;

(7)   the A46 westbound from Longbridge Island to Sherbourne Roundabout;

(8)   the A46 northbound from Longbridge Island to its junction with the A46 Warwick Road, south of the A4189 Hampton Road overbridge;

(9)   the A46 southbound from its junction with the A46 Warwick Road, south of the A4189 Hampton Road Overbridge, to Longbridge Island;

(10) the A46 westbound from its junction with Central Boulevard at Ansty, to its roundabout junction with the A4600, the

B4065 and the M6 Junction 2 slip roads (Ansty Interchange), at Ansty;

(11) the A46 eastbound from Ansty Interchange,  to its junction with Central Boulevard, at Ansty;

(12) any slip road, link road or dedicated lane leading to or from the lengths of carriageway described in (1), (2), (3), (4), (5), (6), (7), (8), (9), (10) and (11)  above;

(13) any lay-by, service road or bus stop area adjacent to the lengths of carriageway described in (1), (2), (3), (4), (5), (6), (7), (8), (9), (10)  and (11) above.

During any road closures traffic will be diverted via alternative junctions of the A46 Trunk Road and local roads. These diversions will be clearly indicated by traffic signs throughout the area.

The duration of each prohibition will vary depending upon the nature of the work being undertaken on each occasion.

The prohibitions will not apply to emergency services, works, or winter maintenance vehicles. The prohibitions will only apply during such times and to such extent as shall be indicated by traffic signs.

The Order comes into force on 27 December 2023 and will expire on 23 December 2024.
