What is happening?
LONDON BOROUGH OF BARNET
THE BARNET (30MPH SPEED LIMIT) (NO. 1) TRAFFIC ORDER 2023
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Council of the London Borough of Barnet have made on 14th December 2023 the above-mentioned Order under Section 6 to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and all other enabling powers.
In order to address concerns about speeding and to improve general road safety, the general effect of the Order will be to introduce a maximum speed limit of 30mph on The Bishops Avenue N2 between A1 Alymer Road and (B519) Hampstead Lane and to revoke the existing speed limit of 40 miles per hour on the same length of The Bishops Avenue.
The Order will also revoke The London Traffic (40mph Speed Limit) (No. 25) Order 1965.
A copy of the Order, which will come into operation on Saturday 16th December 2023 and the Council's Statement of Reasons for making the Order can be obtained, for a period of 6 weeks from the date on which this notice is published, by emailing parking. consultations@barnet.gov.uk or by writing to the Design Team, Highways Section, 7th Floor, 2 Bristol Avenue, Colindale, London NW9 4EW.
Any person wishing to question the validity of the Order or any of its provisions on the grounds that they are not within the relevant powers of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 or that any of the relevant requirements thereof or any regulations made there under have not been complied with in relation to the Order may, within six weeks of the date on which the Order was made, make application for the purpose to the High Court.
