TEMPORARY CLOSURE ORDER 2024

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984

Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council propose to make two Orders under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 not less than seven days from the date hereof the Highway Authority being satisfied that access to the said roads and footpaths should be prohibited because works are being or are proposed to be carried out on or near the roads and footpaths.

The effect of the Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council, Yarm Floodgates Replacement Works, Temporary Traffic Regulation Order 2024, which will come into effect on 5th January 2024, will be to temporarily close the car park specified in Schedule 1 below at such times as traffic management signs may be erected to notify highway users of the closure, and to implement a temporary clearway along the lengths of roads as specified in Schedule 2. It is expected that the clearway will be in effect between approximately 00:01 on 8th January 2024 until 23:59 on 29th November 2024, and that the car park closure will be in effect between approximately 00:01 on 12th February 2024 until 23:59 on 14th March 2024. This Order may continue in force for a maximum period of eighteen months. 

The effect of the Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council (Footpath No. 13, 14, 15, 16 and 17, Yarm) Temporary Closure Order 2024, which will come into effect on 22nd January 2024, will be to temporarily close the full lengths of Footpaths No. 13, 14, 15, 16 and 17, Yarm and an unnamed footpath to the side of 1 Bridge Street, Yarm, at such times as traffic management signs may be erected to notify highway users of the closure. This Order may continue in force for a maximum period of six months, unless extended with the approval from the Secretary of State for Transport. Due to the length of the closures, the footpaths will remain open whenever possible, subject to the operations procedures. Alternative routes will be signed on site. The Police and Emergency Services will be informed of the closures and clearways prior to the works commencing. Pedestrian access will not be maintained while the works are in operation.

Schedule 1 - Temporary Closure
Yarm Wharf Car Park, Yarm - Full car park closure

Schedule 2 - Temporary Clearway (No Stopping) Bentley Wynd Yarm (North Side) - From junction with A67 Yarm High Street in an westerly direction for a distance of approximately 85 metres.
Bentley Wynd Yarm (South Side) - From junction with A67 Yarm High Street in an westerly direction for a distance of approximately 50 metres.
Bridge Street Yarm (North Side) - From a point approximately 20 metres east of its junction with West Street in an easterly direction for a distance of approximately 30 metres.
