The A43 Trunk Road (Silverstone to Towchester) - 40 & 50 MPH Speed Limit Order

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984

THE A43 TRUNK ROAD (SILVERSTONE TO TOWCESTER, NORTHAMPTONSHIRE)  (40 AND 50 MILES PER HOUR SPEED LIMIT) ORDER 20XX

National Highways Limited (Company No. 9346363) hereby gives notice that it intends to revoke an existing Order and make a new Order under sections 84(1)(a) and (2) and 122A of, and paragraph 27(1) of schedule 9 to, the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, on the A43 Trunk Road between Silverstone and Towcester, in the County of Northamptonshire.

The effect of the Order would be to –

(1)  impose a 50 miles per hour speed limit on –

(a)  the slip road leading to the northbound carriageway of the A43 from its roundabout junction with the A413, northeast of Silverstone; and

(b)  the northbound carriageway of the A43 from a point 310 metres north of the A413 overbridge, to a point 1200 metres northwest of that overbridge; and

(2)  impose a 40 miles per hour speed limit on –

(a)  the circulatory carriageway of the new roundabout to be constructed at the junction of the A43 with the Towcester Relief Road, approximately 670 metres south of Abthorpe Roundabout;

(b)  the northbound carriageway of the A43 from a point 1200 metres northwest of the A413 overbridge, to a point 133 metres north of its junction with Abthorpe Roundabout; and

(c)  the southbound carriageway of the A43 from a point 177 metres north of its junction with Abthorpe Roundabout, to a point 40 metres south of its junction with the new roundabout.

A copy of the draft Order, together with a plan illustrating the proposals and a Statement of the reasons for proposing to make the Order, may be inspected during opening hours at Towcester Library, Moat Lane, Towcester NN12 6AD; West Northamptonshire Council, The Forum, Moat Lane, Towcester NN12 6AD, or may be seen at or obtained by application to Richard Cullis at National Highways, The Cube, 199 Wharfside Street, Birmingham, B1 1RN; or obtained by emailing orders-birmingham@nationalhighways.co.uk.

Any person wishing to object to the proposed Order should send a written statement of their objection and the grounds thereof to Richard Cullis at National Highways at the address or e-mail address given above. The objection must be received no later than 11 January 2024.

When submitting an objection, it should be borne in mind that the substance of any objection may be communicated to other  people who may be affected by it.
