What is happening?
West Sussex County Council
(East Grinstead: Various Roads) (Temporary Closure) Order 2024
NOTICE is hereby given that not less than 7 days from the date of this notice, West Sussex County Council intends to make an Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to temporarily close various roads in East Grinstead as follows:
FAIRFIELD ROAD: from its western junction with Lewes Road southwards for 20m from 2 January 2024 to 9 February 2024; CHURCH LANE: from its junction with High Street northwards for 20m from 29 January 2024 to 16 February 2024; OLD ROAD from its junction with Lewes Road northwards for 20m from 2 January 2024 to 15 January 2024
The closure of these roads is needed to allow gas mains to be replaced in safety.
The Order will come into effect on 2 January 2024 and remain in force on the dates stated above. Once made, the Order may remain in force for up to 18 months, or until the proposed works are completed, whichever is earlier.
During the operative periods of this Order alternative routes for vehicles will be indicated on site. Access to properties on the affected length of road will be maintained at all times.

((Mid Sussex District) (Parking Places & Traffic Regulation) (Consolidation No.2) Order 2006) (Copthorne: Westway Amendment) Order 2023
NOTICE is hereby given that West Sussex County Council has recently made a permanent Order under the provisions of the Road Traffic regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to enact the recently installed extension to the prohibition of waiting at any time restriction on both sides of Westway in Copthorne, at its junction with Brookhill Road.
A copy of the Order, which will come into operation on 18 December 2023, together with plans showing the affected lengths of road may be viewed on the West Sussex County Council website. People without access to a computer who wish to view details of the scheme should telephone the West Sussex County Council Contact Centre on 01243 642105 to receive the documents by post.
Any person who wishes to question the validity of this Order, or of any provision contained therein, on the grounds that it is not within the powers conferred by the Act, or on the grounds that any requirement of the Act, or any instrument made under it, has not been complied with in relation to the Order, may within 6 weeks from 14 December 2023, apply to the High Court for this purpose. (Ansty & Staplefield (B2114) Cuckfield Road/Handcross Road) (40 MPH Speed Limit) Order 2023
NOTICE is hereby given that West Sussex County Council has recently made a permanent Order under the provisions of the Road Traffic regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to enact recently installed 40 MPH speed limits on the B2114 in Staplefield as follows:
A) Cuckfield Road (B2114) from the southern end of the existing 30 MPH speed limit in Staplefield, southwards for a distance of 600m; and
B) Handcross Road (B2114) from the northern end of the existing 30 MPH speed limit in Staplefield, northwards for a distance of 600m.
