NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that National Highways Limited(a) intends to make an Order on the A1 Trunk Road in the City of Peterborough to enable carriageway resurfacing and application of road markings and studs to be carried out in safety. The works are expected to last for approximately 12 weeks starting on, or after, Monday  8 January 2024.

The effect of the Order on the southbound carriageway of the A1 would be to –

1.   impose, for 24 hours daily, for safety whilst traffic runs on a temporary road surface, a temporary speed limit of 50 miles per hour from a point 200 metres north of the southbound exit slip road leading to the A43 Kettering Road at Wothorpe Junction to the southbound exit slip road leading to the A47 at Wansford Interchange, and

2.   close, for one or more full weekend periods (8pm Friday to 6am Monday) the A1 between Wothorpe Junction and Wansford Interchange, including the southbound entry slip road at Wothorpe Junction - diverting traffic to exit the A1 at Wothorpe Junction, then via the A43 and A47 to re-join the A1 at Wansford Interchange.

All lay-bys adjacent to the length of carriageway described at 2 above would be closed for  24 hours daily for the duration of the works.

The temporary speed limit (which would not apply to emergency service or special forces vehicles), and closures (which would not apply to emergency services, traffic officer or works vehicles) would be clearly indicated by traffic signs.

The Order would come into force on 5 January 2024 and may continue in force until the works detailed above have been completed, or for a maximum duration of eighteen months whichever is the earlier.
