Workington, Multiple Temporary Traffic Regulation Orders

What is happening?

CUMBERLAND COUNCIL

(U2987 NEWLANDS ROAD, COCKERMOUTH AND U2606 PETER STREET, U2557 KING STREET AND U2306 LING ROAD, WORKINGTON) (TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION) ORDER 2023

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable Cumberland Council to carry out highway works ("the Works"), Cumberland Council has made an Order the effect of which is to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along the following sections of road:

U2987 Newlands Road, Cockermouth, extending for its entire length from its junction with Dunmail Crescent.

There is no suitable alternative route available for vehicles.

Duration: From 11 December 2023 for approx. 5 days (Ref: TTROC/8843)

U2606 Peter Street, Workington from its junction with Devonshire Street, extending in a southerly direction for approx. 70m.

There is no suitable alternative route available for vehicles.

Duration: From 11 December 2023 for approx. 3 days (Ref: TTROC/8820)

U2557 King Street, Workington, from its junction with Market Place to its junction with the A596 Guard Street.

There is no suitable alternative route available for vehicles.

Duration: From 2 January 2024 for approx. 6 weeks (Ref: TTRO/6917)

U2306 Ling Road, Seaton, Workington, from a point approx. 90m southeast of its junction with Cape Road extending in an overall easterly direction for approx. 40m.

Alternative Route: via the unrestricted sections of Ling Road, Cape Road, and Inner Ling Road

Duration: From 15 January 2024 for approx. 5 days (Ref: TTROC/9066)

A way for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times.

Nothing in the Order to which this notice relates shall:

(i) Apply emergency service vehicles, or vehicles being used by statutory undertakers in the performance of their duties; and

(ii) Apply to anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform; and

(iii) Have the effect of preventing at any time access for pedestrians to any premises situated on or adjacent to the roads, or to any other premises accessible for pedestrians from, and only from the roads; and

(iv) Apply to vehicles being used in connection with the Works.

The Order will come into operation on 11 December 2023 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restrictions will only be required as detailed above, and only as and when the appropriate traffic signs are displayed.
