Footpaths 001 West Ayton, 501 Hackness and 009 Suffield-Cum-Everley - Temporary Prohibition of Pedestrians

What is happening?

NORTH YORK MOORS NATIONAL PARK AUTHORITY (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF PEDESTRIANS)
FOOTPATHS 001 WEST AYTON 501 HACKNESS AND 009 SUFFIELD-CUM-EVERLEY
ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 – SECTION 14(1) (AS AMENDED)

The North York Moors National Park Authority has made an Order, the effect of which is to make the following closure parishes of West Ayton, Hackness and Suffield cum Everley  in the Borough of Scarborough:

No pedestrian shall proceed along footpath 501 Hackness  (A (Grid Ref: SE966889) to B (Grid Ref: SE970884), 634 metres); or footpath 009 Suffield-cum-Everley (B (Grid Ref: SE970884) to C (Grid Ref: SE981875) 1459 metres) or footpath 001 West Ayton (C (Grid Ref: SE981875) to  D (Grid ref: SE983871) 540 metres).

The alternative route is to take footpath 502 Hackness; footpath 007 Suffield-cum-Everley and footpath 702 West Ayton (A (Grid Ref: SE966889) to E (Grid Ref: SE983869) to  D (SE983871). The alternative route section E to D follows a permissive path down through the wood.

The closure will be put into effect by means of the erection  of notices and signs.

The Order is necessary due to the unsafe condition of the boardwalk on the public footpath.

By approval of the Secretary of State for Transport on the 17 November 2023 to an extension (ref: NATTRAN/Y&H/ TTRO/5322), the Order shall continue in force until 15 June 2024 or until completion of the works, whichever is the earlier.
