What is happening?

Portsmouth City Council (James Callaghan Drive) (Temporary Road Closure) (Temporary Prohibition of Waiting and Loading) (No.314) Order 2023

Dated: 5th December 2023
Notice is hereby given that Portsmouth City Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended by the Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991.
The Order comes into operation from 12th December 2023 and the effect will be as follows:-
A) TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE AND PROHIBITION OF WAITING AND LOADING
JAMES CALLAGHAN DRIVE

From its junction with Portsdown Hill Road Roundabout to its junction with Portsdown Hill Road.
B) REASON FOR THE ORDER
To facilitate crane works in road to remove and replace roadside kiosk.
C) DURATION OF THE ORDER
From 22:30 on 12th December 2023 to 04:00 on 13th December 2023 or completion of the works, whichever is sooner.
D) DIVERSION
Vehicles will be diverted from James Callaghan Drive, Portsdown Hill Road, Down End Road, Portchester Road, West Street, East Street, Southampton Road, Spur Road Roundabout, Northern Road, London Road, Southwick Hill Road, Portsdown Hill Road Roundabout and vice versa. (Access only from Portsdown Hill Road to NHS Park & Ride.)
Pedestrian access will be maintained around the works.
Cycles to follow vehicle diversion or dismount and follow pedestrian diversion around the works.
