ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984

THE A232 GLA ROAD (CHEPSTOW ROAD/ BARCLAY ROAD/ FAIRFIELD ROAD, LONDON BOROUGH OF CROYDON) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC AND STOPPING) ORDER 2023

1. Transport for London in consultation with the London Borough of Croydon hereby gives notice that it has made the above-named Traffic Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 for the purpose specified in paragraph 2. The effect of the Order is summarised in paragraph 3.

2. The purpose of the Order is to enable lighting works to take place on the A232 Chepstow Road/ Fairfield Road/ Barclay Road.

3. The effect of the Order will be to prohibit any vehicle from:

(1) entering, exiting or proceeding in a southerly direction on Chepstow Road between its junctions with Radcliffe Road and Park Hill Rise;

(2) turning right from Clyde Road southbound into the Chepstow Road;

(3) entering or proceeding on Radcliffe Road between is junction with Chepstow Road and a point 25 metres southwards;

(4) entering or proceeding in a westerly direction on Addiscombe Road between its junctions with Shirley Road and Chepstow Road, local access will be maintained;

(5) entering or proceeding on Park Hill Rise between its junction with Chepstow Road and the access road to No.17 Park Hill Rise (southern arm) (Runnymede Court);

(6) entering, exiting or proceeding in a southerly-westerly direction on Chepstow Road between its junctions with Park Hill Rise and Park Hill Road;

(7) entering or proceeding in a westerly direction on the A232 Fairfield Road/ Barclay Road between its junctions with Park Hill Road and Park Lane;

(8) stopping on Fairfield Road between its junctions with Park Hill Road and Fairfield Path;

(9) entering or proceeding in an easterly direction on the A232 Barclay Road/ Fairfield Road between its junctions with Park Lane and Park Hill Road;

(10) entering or proceeding in a southerly direction on Altyre Road between its junctions with Hazeldean Road and Barclay Road, local access will be maintained;

(11) entering or proceeding in a north-easterly direction on Chepstow Road between its junctions with Park Hill Road and Park Hill Rise;

(12) entering or proceeding in a south-easterly direction on Park Hill Rise (northern arm) between its junctions with Leafy Way and Chepstow Road, local access will be maintained;

(13) entering, proceeding or stopping on Park Hill Rise (northern arm) between its junction with Chepstow Road and No.15 Park Hill Rise;

(14) entering or proceeding through the Emergency Vehicles gate between Park Lane southbound and Park Lane northbound at the roundabout at the junctions of Park Lane/ Barclay Road and Croydon Flyover.

Works will be phased such that some restrictions will apply only at certain times.

The Order will be effective at certain times from 12.01 AM on the 1st December 2023 until 11.59 PM on the 1st May 2024 or when the works have been completed whichever is the sooner. The prohibitions will apply only during such times and to such extent as shall from time to time be indicated by traffic signs.

4. The prohibitions will not apply in respect of:

(1) any vehicle being used for the purposes of those works or for fire brigade, ambulance or police purposes;

(2) anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform or a person authorised by Transport for London.

5. At such times as the prohibitions are in force alternative routes will be indicated by traffic signs. For Chepstow Road southbound via Addiscombe Road eastbound, Shirley Road, Lower Addiscombe Road, Cherry Orchard Road, Addiscombe Grove and Fairfield Road to normal route of travel. For Fairfield Road/ Barclay Road westbound via Chepstow Road, Addiscombe Road, Shirley Road, Wickham Road, High Street, Glebe Way, Addington Street, Addington Village Road, Kent Gate Way, Gravel Hill, Coombe Lane, Coombe Road and Park Lane to normal route of travel. For Barclay Road westbound via Addiscombe Grove, Cherry Orchard Road, Lower Addiscombe Road and Shirley Road to diversion route above. For A232 Barclay Road/ Fairfield Road eastbound via Park Lane southbound, Coombe Road and Park Hill Road to normal route of travel, or via Park Lane southbound, Coombe Road, Coombe Lane, Gravel Hill, New Gate Way, Addington Village Road, Addington Road, Glebe Way, High Street, Wickham Road, Shirley Road, Addiscombe Road and Chepstow Road to normal route of travel. For Chepstow Road north eastbound via Fairfield Road westbound, Addiscombe Grove, Cherry Orchard Road, Lower Addiscombe Road, Shirley Road and Addiscombe Road to normal route of travel.
