What is happening?

WESTMORLAND AND FURNESS COUNCIL

(BACKS OF MARSH STREET AND MARSDEN STREET, BARROW-IN-FURNESS) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF ALL TRAFFIC) ORDER 2023

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable Network Plus to carry out utility works ("the Works"), Westmorland and Furness Council has made an Order the effect of which is to prohibit all traffic (i.e. vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists), from proceeding along that section of the backs of Marsh Street and Marsden Street, Barrow-in-Furness from the junction with Foundry Street, extending in a south easterly direction for a distance of approx 40m.

A suitable alternative route for vehicles will be signed and available via the unrestricted sections of the backs of Marsh Street and Marsden Street, and Lumley Street, March Street and Fenman Close.

Nothing in the Order to which this notice relates shall:

1. Have the effect of preventing at any time access for pedestrians to any premises situated on or adjacent to the road, or to any other premises accessible for pedestrians from, and only from the road; and

2. Apply to personnel and vehicles being used in connection with the Works.

The Order will come into operation on 5th December 2023 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restriction will only be required for 3 days and only as and when the appropriate traffic signs are displayed.
