ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 - SECTION 14(1)(a) THE A616 TRUNK ROAD (NEWTON CHAMBERS ROUNDABOUT TO FLOUCH ROUNDABOUT) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC)
What is happening?
ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 - SECTION 14(1)(a) THE A616 TRUNK ROAD (NEWTON CHAMBERS ROUNDABOUT TO FLOUCH ROUNDABOUT) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC)
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that National Highways Limited. (Company No. 09346363) intends to make an Order on the A616 Trunk Road, in the County of South Yorkshire, to enable maintenance and improvement works to be carried out in safety.
The works are expected to take place overnight between 8pm and 6am during a period starting on 2 January 2024 and ending on 21 December 2024.
The effect of the Order will be to impose prohibitions on the following lengths of carriageway:
(i) the A616 Trunk Road, in both directions, between Newton Chambers and Flouch (including roundabouts);
(ii) all slip roads leading to and from the lengths of carriageway described above; and
(iii) all lay-bys, bus stops, gaps, side roads adjacent to the lengths of carriageway as described in (i).
During any road closures traffic will be diverted via alternative junctions of the M1 and local roads. These diversions will be clearly indicated by traffic signs throughout the area.

The duration of each prohibition will vary depending upon the nature of the work being undertaken on each occasion and access will be maintained at all times to premises and properties which are accessible from, and only from, the A616.
The prohibitions will not apply to emergency services, works, or winter maintenance vehicles. The prohibitions will only apply during such times and to such extent as shall be indicated by traffic signs.
The Order comes into force on 1 January 2024 and will expire on 21 December 2024.
